My (somewhat more realistic) fantasy is to get a sailboat. Then if things get really bad here I can flee to Canada in it.

Oh, I also have a sailboat! That's totally unsuitable for long-distance sailing and also currently at the wrong end of the Hudson.

I'd be able to visit all my dead people! (Look, I've spent a LOT of time in the cemetary there. And in the one up the road that's all overgrown out near the homestead.) And only 20 minutes to all my live people! It'd be awesome!

Related-ish to BMI, just last night, a group of women I know (locally) who are all in my size range decided to organize a clothing swap/lending scheme.

This is cool! I can almost never borrow clothes from people!

I was mildly upset when my office stopped routing all our internet traffic through London because it meant we couldn't watch BBC iPlayer anymore. OTOH, we now have access to Hulu so I suppose it's a fair trade.

In a broad sense, I just think we're an empire in decline, and probably at this point further decline is inevitable.
