Why does the human have to do that? I guess bulldogs really ARE helpless.

I was wondering that, too. I thought the moms naturally cleaned them, and that it also helped stimulate their excretory systems. Maybe she is ignoring some of the puppies?
OMG, y'all are going to have to post more than this if I'm going to get through this snowstorm! 3-5 inches today, 4-8 tonight. And then the heavy snow starts tomorrow. It is a wet sloppy mess out there; my roads are mud. There's no way I'm getting anywhere. Probably canceling lessons and rehearsal tonight. Tomorrow was admin day anyway, so that's okay. Then probably canceling lessons and potentially church on Saturday. The SO had cabin fever already yesterday.
And this morning I'm up because we were losing power and the UPS kept going off. I had to get up to power down the studio. Then I ran around getting batteries and matches together. And I filled a bucket. I dunno what that was about, really. I took a shower in case we lose hot water. Now I need to feed the birds and the dog and me. Sheesh.
Liese, grab a cook book or two and choose a new recipe to try out.
Good call. I already made cookies yesterday because of Amy's suggestion on facebook. And I baked bread last night in case we lost power today and I couldn't do it in the machine.
But the SO got a bunch of cooking stuff for his Christmas present. And we've got a ton of ingredients in the freezer and pantry. So that would probably work.
Also, I have a bag of books from the library! Foresightful!
Snowed in! That definitely calls for stews and reading.
I just had an interesting meeting, that included a newish person saying how she would do something and everyone else (I am 100% confident) biting their tongues about how we tried that a couple of years ago, with no success.
I really was inclined to stay home and in bed today, but I am not sick and the boss is away, so I decided it was wasting a sick day to stay home. I am not getting a ton done, but several visitors have needed help today so I guess it was good that I came in. Maybe I can clean up a thing or two.
Coming in late, but --
Many sympathies, Jilli.
Hil, the Leo Frank case is fascinating. I'm sure your university library would have something(s) on it. But avoid Tom Watson's work. Watson started out (in the 1890s) as an agrarian populist, but by the time of Frank's trial, Watson had morphed into anyone-who-isn't-like-me-ist.
Gads, sorry Jilli.
re: the little girl's hair.
There's something weirdly tied into chastity/innocence/purity with girls' hair, I've noticed. It's like "my little girl is no longer 'untouched' if we cut off her hair."
Of course, some people are just weird.
