"It didn't taste good. It tasted soooo horrible. It tasted like....a vodka martini." - Matilda

I've been having terrible heartburn and acid reflux. I never ever had that before, and I haven't changed my eating habits.

It's not instant, but you might want to try a couple of weeks of Prilosec. My doctor put me on it and it saved me from a life of eating Tums by the handful.

I hope flea has flown over me by now.

“Not dead yet!”

NOLA-isatas past and/or present:

What's a historic luxury hotel that would have been around and regarded as such in the mid-sixties?

"This bar smells like kerosene and stripper tears."

Roosevelt? It's been a while since I stayed at anything nicer than family.

"I'm useless alone." // "We're all useless alone. It's a good thing you're not alone."

In the French Quarter?

“Not dead yet!”

Yeah. Although I think I found what I wanted-- the Monteleone.

"I'm useless alone." // "We're all useless alone. It's a good thing you're not alone."

That's what I was about to suggest.

the hardest to learn / was the least complicated

Here is your image for the evening: my dad works in the meat department of a grocery store, mostly keeping the shelves stocked and whatnot. He hurt his back at work yesterday because he had been hauling frozen chickens about, and as he was stacking them (or moving them, or something), he happened to be standing in a PUDDLE OF CHICKEN BLOOD, and his foot slid out from under him. He didn't hit the floor, but he wrenched his back fairly well, what with the flailing about.

I told him that as long as he left out the part about him being at work when it happened, he had one hell of a story for how he hurt his back: "Yeah, I was tossing chickens, and slipped in a pool of chicken blood...."

His back is sore today, but seems to be on the mend. I'm just so amused by the image of my dad tossing frozen chickens while standing in a puddle of chicken blood, I can't even tell you. It's like something from a freakshow.
