'we all walk this earth feeling we are frauds. The trick is to be grateful and hope the caper doesn't end any time soon"

The only thing HPV means to me is Human Papilloma Virus, and I'm pretty sure that's not what you're talking about... right?

Woe to the fucking wicked.

Nope, you got it, Theo. I get those ads all the time on Hulu. Hate.

Ok, still love Tammy and Coach on FNL. Plus old Wire kids getting work! And he's good.

I saw two (or maybe one twice) redwing blackbirds on my walk today. Not sure why that tickled me, but it did. They are very pretty.

You were a wrong baby who grew up wrong. The wrong kind of wrong. It's better you hear it from a friend.

Watching a special on California's Big Sur. The banana slug got wacky glockenspiel music. And the observation that "Big Sur's top predator has no interest in banana slugs." There you have it fols, cougars are indifferent to banana slugs.

It did also note that cougars are the largest cat that purrs, which is nice. And that they can leap over a bus. Lengthways.

"Faded like the lilac, he thought."

Ooh! I saw a redwing blackbird today too, sara! Serendipity! I was out in the front drive weeding, and it was sitting on the tray feeder scolding me. I'm always happy to see them because they're migratory here.

I also saw a Scott's oriole. No Baltimore ones yet this year. I need to put out some oranges.

New hair.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

New hair.

Cool! Must be getting summer time in the desert.

We're back from java's cookout for flea. So much good food! I'm overstuffed. Grilled salmon burgers, P-Cow's chili, potatoes, every kind of cocktail you can make with Meyer lemons, pie.

Matilda was on her charming best behavior and had much talk with flea. Perkins and I went lemon picking. (She's looking very svelte and her hair is longish and pretty.) Consuela was there looking very chic. Matt and Beth came by with their friend Tom. megan walker was there, just back from Santa Cruz with flea. Good company and good food, well hosted by javachik.

What else besides ramen can you scoop? YOU CAN SCOOP THIS WORLD FROM DARKNESS!

So the Deadwood Pancakes video Matt was talking about is pretty great.

"Faded like the lilac, he thought."

Mmm, sounds lovely. And yup, it is just now getting warm in the Arizona mountains. Totally did it on a whim; walked past it on my way from the bookstore (where I was finally picking up my copy of one Deb Grabien`s "While My Guitar Gently Weeps.") and said, huh, I could get my hair cut. And as I had the photo of indignant French teacher on my phone, I did.
