You like ships. You don't seem to be looking at the destinations. What you care about is the ships, and mine's the nicest.

Back tattoos of the mother is that you are absolutely right - Ame

Flops into thread.

Tournament was wonderful. But the schedule got hosed about half way through the day making a long day even longer. But staying until the end was worth the effort. Our dojo FINALLY won the big tournament trophy. We move into our new dojo on Monday, so it is a perfect way to welcome everyone to the new digs.

I should eat, but that would take moving, which I'm really not up to doing at the moment. Someone send cabana boys, please.

Loki really benefits from MK and vice versa, but the energy levels are...um, opposite. But they do enjoy each other. MK was fine with Devi the bitchkitty, but Loki will not do so well. I keep trying to get my neighbor-friends' cats to visit ( Pooch and Kittyboy kinda go into each others' houses and play) but they won't come another 3 houses down yet. I've offered to take Pooch while S is out of town most of the summer, but I think her "wife" (former housemate and good friend) wants him, and that's where he normally goes during her summer gigs. And besides, he's indoor-outdoor and the latter would stress me out immeasurably. Can't do that.

I've got to say, meeting professional musicians had been interesting, in terms of the itinerant life they lead. I mean, they are obviously successful enough to be able to carry a mortgage. But their time? Is not my time. S is basically gone summers, renting out her house or whatever.

I also love having 2 violists and a cellist in the 'hood. (NSM the voice teacher. Oh, his students. Few are good. My cats' yowls are less painful.) Makes for nice music drifting, since all of them practice several hours a day. Actually, when we were porching this morning, a neighbor (renter) they didn't know came up to ask S if it was her he heard in the afternoons. When confirmed, he introduced himself and said how happy the music drifting made him. Which is just neat.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

I want to eat Cash's lambchops. Mmmm.

Back from baseball. Our team played crappy and stupid. So much stupid. They were down 7-0 in the third, 10-4 in the fourth.

And then they came back to win...on a stupid play. We had a runner at first and another at third (the tying run). The runner at first got picked off like an idjit and they botched the rundown and the runner from third scored. Then some more shenanigans and we won on the opposing team's error.

We totally didn't deserve to win. If I recounted all the dumb shit we did it'd take an hour.

Unfortunately Matilda did not nap at the fields and now she's falling asleep too early. Or rather just in a cranky fusspot zone after being very tractable and pleasant all day.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

msbelle, I was thinking about you guys earlier as I was out for Ethiopian food. Which was pretty good, but not awesome.

Oh man. ita, I probably have some vintage stuff that would work for you (and a great orange silk dress from Banana Republic, Size 6, but narrow across the back) My problem is always across the back.

brillig

Library show was interesting, but not really what was advertised. It was about importance of libraries, illustrated with occasional snippets from movies. Yes, Marion the Librarian was well represented. As was a movie with Tracey and Hepburn, which was the companion to a section about Hepburn's sister, who is a librarian. A large segment was on the Salinas, Ca., libraries, that were going to be closed because idiots who don't use libraries don't think they should have to pay for them. The literacy program in San Quentin Prison raised money for the libraries, with the quote "If you don't have libraries for kids, the only place left for them is someplace like this."
