I need to vent for a second. I'm reading various articles and posts about the Nashville flooding, and I keep encountering variations on "WE didn't whine about being victims, WE just helped each other." Am I totally addled to read this as a taking a shot at poor black Katrina victims? Because that's how I'm reading it and it is making me angry.
Me too. Actually more sad than angry. I have no desire to get into a pissing match over "My natural disaster was/is worse than yours."
I would honestly hate to see a disaster that was handled worse.
What they mean when they say, "handled it better" is not that the government handled it better, but that the natives handled it better than "those people" in Louisiana.
I think people forget that Katrina killed 1,800 people and involved a hurricane in addition to flooding. It was a different scale.
I think people don't think before they speak. Also? a lot of them suck. Also? given the chance to see themselves as better than an "other" most will cling to that.
remember, me = the nicest.
The frustrating thing about the oil leak is that there's so little that can be done. It's just too deep.
Is it just me, or does this look like it was designed to fight Daleks?
It looks to me like it's designed for the person to be serving ice cream.

Although some have claimed that an atomic bomb would seal things right up....
Hi you guys! I got all of the technology policies and they said you can have "reasonable" personal internet use! Although they caution that your definition of reasonable may not be the same as your supervisor's, and you should go with what the supervisor says...
Also amusing that both Kagan and Obama smoke (or maybe she quit, but it was a thing during the tobacco cases).
My people! That's probably how they got to be friends....
oops, double-post. I need to learn how to work a Mac.
I know - plus, I may be wrong, but I keep getting the feeling that BP just didn't plan for this eventuality. They seem so ill prepared to deal with this sort of failure.
