We are Buffistas. This isn't our first apocalypse. -- Pix

I got my hair cut, did a couple of errands, took a nap, did some yard work, mopped the kitchen floor, and now I'm off to make my parents dinner. Not accomplished: lighting fixtures and plants. Tomorrow, maybe.

I probably shouldn't have taken a nap, but it was lovely.

Every now and then, I think I might actually be a little odd.

I probably shouldn't have drunk that vodka-and-coke, but it was luvly.

The feeling you get when your brain finally lets your heart get in its pants.

I tried to take a nap, but it failed.

It was not lovely, but oh well.

Sometimes I think I might just move up to Vermont, open a bookstore or a vegan restaurant. Adam Schlesinger, z''l

I took a nap, and had a dream that I went to a Chinese restaurant owned by Jasmine Guy.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

I'm not supposed to drink the water here, so I guess it's time for wine. (Also boiling water on the stove...)

information libertarian

I'm drinking bourbon. What, it's Derby Day. Also my son just peed on the floor. Why a kid who can pronounce and find his testicles can't pee in the potty, I don't know.

Hah to the story, but sucks about the peeing, flea. Too young to make him clean it up?

Jesse, trip to Greece!?! Also, where are you that you can't drink the water??

I so far today have...watched half of a movie with Marc Blucas and Katie Holmes (First Daughter), been to Home Depot to return things and buy new things, and been to late lunch for a friends birthday. Now to try to encourage myself to get shit done at home so I can justify Ikea tomorrow.

We won’t stop until everyone is gay.

I thought I smelled smoke, so I did my best to clean out my dryer vent. Oy. Now I'm having bourbon and ginger, I'll get back to being productive in a little bit.

Went to the market this morning. Ended up buying a chocolate mint plant and a pineapple sage (it really smells like pineapple.) Hung out with the neighbors. Came home and attacked the back postage stamp. Bag and a half of ivy/weeds/who knows, got it mostly under control. Planted the new plants in the hope they'll take over instead of the madcrazyevil mix I keep fighting with. Got thoroughly soaked and sunburned. Went and swam. Then off for shoes and a dress. Found sneakers, but no dress shoes (and I need at least 2 pairs.) Kinda hate a lot of shoes out there right now. Found a cute little black with white polkadot dress that reminds me of the 30s/40s. Got that. Then I headed to the Towson Mall and headed to Nordstroms for a bra fitting.

It's official: I am fucking SOL when it comes to finding a bra that fits that doesn't put my boobs in the wrong place, make them pointy or cut them off in the wrong place. Seriously, she brought me possibly 30 bras. Something wrong with every single one. Closest was a freaking $80 bra, and if I am going to pay $80 for a bra, it had better be a fucking miracle, not just "almost." I get "almost" for $30. And it wasn't me just being picky, the bra lady concurred. Yay special snowflake me.

It was demoralizing. I'm actually kinda surprised at how frustrated it makes me.

Anyway, I think I'm going to have a drink.

You were a wrong baby who grew up wrong. The wrong kind of wrong. It's better you hear it from a friend.

Is there a drawback to having two of those genes? Any reason we shouldn't experiment on giving humans another one?

I don't think we know of any drawback (and mole rats can live up to 28 years - rodents, living nearly three decades, any drawback can't be that serious). There are indeed researchers working on whether this could be turned into some kind of therapy. Presumably not working in Arizona.
