I bought way too much plain yoghurt in an attempt to get the .25c I needed for this banana bread recipe. I should have tried sour cream and milk instead.
For the record, my banana bread recipe uses sour cream, and it is fan-godamned-tastic.
Onion, diced and sauteed! Fake meet, sauteed! Beans and tomatoes, dumped in! Concoction tasted, deemed lacking: entire packet of chili seasoning, dumped in! Now it's cooking.
Right on!
Jilli, if you listen closely, another babybat just got its wings. Owen asked me for black fingernails (nothing new) but he also asked for a skull necklace. The nails, I could do tonight. The rest may have to wait until I can find the right one.
I find Flylady very helpful. It's also annoying as shit. Like I said before, I do a lot of translating in my head. I also appreciate that her products tend to cut down on disposables and are therefore good for the environment, even if she does insist on calling it "going purple lol." I'd jump on a Buffista version in a heartbeat.
oh, I forgot Castle tonight. That will be good for tomorrow night. time for bed for me.
Does your recipe for banana bread have spices in it, Steph? The CI one doesn't have anything other than vanilla. I added nutmeg, because I love nutmeg.
Turned out pretty well. Cut the sugar by 1/3, but I still think it's on the sweet side.

The ideas (a lot, though not all) are definitely helpful. But her terminology is just Ever So Too TOO Fucking Precious for me to handle. The "27 Fling Boogie"? Seriously? The "Weekly Home Blessing Hour"??? SERIOUSLY???

Just cinnamon, although nutmeg sounds good, and I tend to play fast and loose with spices when I bake. Let me rummage up the recipe....
Banana Bread
(makes 2 loaves)
1/2 cup vegetable oil
1 1/2 cups sugar (though you could adjust it down -- or up -- to your preferences)
2 eggs, well-beaten
1 1/2 cups self-rising flour**
1/3 cup sour cream
2-3 bananas, mashed
1 tsp. cinnamon
Blend oil and sugar. Add eggs and mix. Add flour and sour cream and mix. Add cinnamon and bananas and mix. Pour into 2 oiled loaf pans. Sprinkle cinnamon on top if that makes you happy.
Bake @ 350 degrees for 45 minutes.
**If you don't have self-rising flour, then use regular (all-purpose, whatever) flour, and add baking powder and salt, at a ratio of 1 1/2 teaspoons of baking powder and 1/2 teaspoon of salt for each cup of all-purpose flour.

Eeeee! Go Owen! Also, I have found good skull necklaces on eBay and Etsy.

Ewwww, that sounds like it would drive me crazy. Plus, would probably trigger my semi-repressed Cranky Teen side to hide in my room and do nothing but read when someone tells me to do chore-like things.

That's where I'm looking. I need one petite enough that it won't bother him when he wears it.
For me it is more her "must be done this way". her site didn't leave me a lot of room to pick and choose what worked for me. ( I could ,of course, there are no fly lady police )
But I really liked a lot of her ideas - working with timers, or numbers. And even doing things that create a routine. I do not need aphorisms to clean my house however. I do think a clean living environment is good. If I can get it to visually calm, even better. I just need ways to make things easier and efficent and ways to catch up when things get behind.
