Much box and transportation~ma, David.
I was actually car-less for ten years because the same thing happened to me. I rode the bus in Kansas City, not a town known for its great mass transit system. It took me ten years to save enough to buy a used car. I hope it doesn't take you that long.
So you're not trying to make Hec feel better so much as want to scratch his brain out?
Oh right, I forgot that he hates kittens for some reason. Well, he could have imagined a baseball instead.
GettingHome~ma, Hec. Call me if you get stuck in the central valley, I can come get you.
So sorry, Hec and JZ! It is high time for something wonderful to happen for you two.
I re-re-re-ran the Zipcar numbers, and they basically suck - we could make the plan itself affordable, but only by supplementing with public transit, and the BART fares would run the total monthly cost up to nearly $100 a month more than what we paid for a beater car.
Fuck. My brain is just frozen. I can't even prod myself into starting to solve this.
JZ, you're welcome to email me and I can come up with crackbrained ideas and research stuff for you.
Will Plei's ideas involve a massive heist of glittery nail polish?
JZ, it's not time yet for solving. You're still in shock. Solving will come. (With or without nail polish pirate help.)
Plei, insending momentarily.
Wish I had something more to offer than my sympathy and hope for a workable solution, Hec and JZ.
