Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

I stand corrected! Many of you can rock that quiz like Dana!

Dude. I figure the Pope needs LOTS of prayer right now. Though possibly not in the way he and certain members of his...um...cabinet? think he does. I think he needs lots of prayer to do the right thing. To help him understand that he did the wrong thing. To help him hear God, since apparently he's ...not been doing so well with that. etc. etc. To help him in the future, cause I'm not feeling his heavenly future. And on and on. I figure the Pope and his cronies are in GREAT need of prayer. It's just not the "Excuse us from the shit people are raining down on us" prayer they want.

Yes, this. I felt that way during the Bush administration when people wanted me to pray for the president. I absolutely will!

“Not dead yet!”

Okay, who else can rock this quiz like I did?

I, too, rocked it Dana-style. 16/16, baby!

ION, I can haz new hair. Sort of. It's at least cleaned up and layers freshly trimmed and I no longer look like a bag lady, with the hair. Also have nicely cleaned up eyebrows.

See? I gave everybody here an opportunity to tell me what a bad person I am and nobody did, because I fuckin' rule.

He definitely, desperately needs all the prayers you describe; I think this priest's eyerolling was because the specific prayer he had to read was all about the pope continuing to lead us wisely and suchlike, all phrased in a way that presupposes that of course everyone reciting the prayer already knows how wonderful he is, and we just hope he gets even more wonderful over the next year.

Out of nowhere, the other day my (way more devout than me) mom said that she thinks that if he really cares about the future of the Church he'll resign. I absolutely, utterly do not ever remember hearing any practicing Catholic even whisper anything like this in my life before.

Woe to the fucking wicked.

16/16. They didn't even choose little-known songs from the shows.

I know! I kept wondering when they'd get to the "obscure" one they mentioned.

"I keep to a strict diet of ill-advised enthusiasm and heartfelt regret." Leigh Bardugo

It's really wrong to admit this but I am TOTALLY fascinated by what's happening now. 10 years ago, when the child abuse scandal really came to the forefront in the US, there was a lot of tsking and shaking of the head about the liberal Americans and their wayward ways.

The sex abuse coming to light throughout Europe now sort of belies that it's just an American issue. And I'd wager it's not even a WESTERN church issue.

And that it's the Pope, particularly one who makes noises about going back to pre-Vatican II, makes this a Vatican trainwreck I can't stop watching.
