Well some friends of Buffy played a funny joke and they took her stuff and now she wants us to help get it back from her friends who sleep all day and have no tans.

Sometimes I think I might just move up to Vermont, open a bookstore or a vegan restaurant. Adam Schlesinger, z''l

My officemates and I have wasted hours on the quizzes on Sporcle.com.

"I keep to a strict diet of ill-advised enthusiasm and heartfelt regret." Leigh Bardugo

It's really wrong to admit this but I am TOTALLY fascinated by what's happening now. 10 years ago, when the child abuse scandal really came to the forefront in the US, there was a lot of tsking and shaking of the head about the liberal Americans and their wayward ways.

The sex abuse coming to light throughout Europe now sort of belies that it's just an American issue. And I'd wager it's not even a WESTERN church issue.

And that it's the Pope, particularly one who makes noises about going back to pre-Vatican II, makes this a Vatican trainwreck I can't stop watching.

Greece's financial crisis threatens to take down all of Western civilization - a civilization they themselves founded. A rather tragic irony - which is something they also invented. - Jon Stewart

A high school in Alabama punished students for dress code violations at prom (i.e., dresses that showed too much skin) by paddling them.

Yeah, states that love to paddle will do that. In third grade we'd get smacked by a piece of 1x4 if we forgot our homework, talked out of turn, etc.

It's weird, isn't it? eta: Vatican stuff

OK, the extra 12 laps? Are the breaking point. So very sore tonight. Premenstrual muscle and joint grindiness aren't helping. Literally feels like there is sand in muscles and joints.

Where else are you thinking? South America (though I guess that's West) and Africa? I think most of the East would be some flavor of Orthodox.

Woe to the fucking wicked.

I'm sure there are Catholics in Asia, especially as long as Europeans were in some places.

We are Buffistas. This isn't our first apocalypse. -- Pix

And in China, although they're split between Catholics who recognize the Pope's authority and Catholics who get bishops appointed by the government.

... which makes me wonder how this scandal is playing in China: it's a great opportunity for the government-approved version of the church to try to gain supporters.

I am home and I have caved and turned the heat back on because it's cold and wet outside. And now I think I shall take pie crust out of the freezer. And watch last night's Supernatural.

Now let us crush something soft and watch it fountain blood. That is a girlish thing to want to do, yes?
