I would think you could just omit the onion from the soup, although it is just in there for the broth making part. I actually added some old lettuce to the part where I was boiling the chicken, and it added some good flavor, so maybe just the celery, lettuce and the chicken?

I had a bout with salmonella the summer between 4th and 5th grades, and the BRAT diet still sends me a running! I (at 37) am just beginning to be able to eat rice again!

This is what I was wondering. Because the soup I made had you strain the onions out, so maybe OK? This is the recipe I used, except I eft out the boullion, and added rice with the carrots [link]
