The flavor profile is Cincinnati-style, so it's meant to be served over spaghetti & topped with cheddar cheese.
No cinnamon? I thought that was key.
There's cinnamon in Skyline, I'm pretty sure. Along with the chocolate.
I do occasionally add cinnamon to my beany, tomato-y chili, but it doesn't make much of a difference.
And we often have the leftovers on top of spaghetti, even though it's really nothing like Skyline in terms of taste or texture. It's still good on spaghetti.
ION, sushi is in mah belly. It wasn't the best I've ever had, but it was fairly good. Tiny place -- maybe 9 2-top tables and 2 4-tops, and then 5 seats at the sushi bar. And when we got there it was pretty full -- only 1 4-top and 2 2-tops were open. I like seeing it full, because I want it to do well and stick around in the 'hood.
Your brother is awesome, msbelle. I'm glad he is there for you guys.
Pool was still a madhouse at 7:45, but I had a lane. Fridays are normally empty but for the aquacize class.
Cinnamon is also important in beans and meat chilli stew.
I still think cincy "chili" is WRONG.

I imagine it's an acquired taste if you're not from here. Although I think most of the Buffistas who've visited me have been agreeable to it. (Billytea tried it and was polite about it not being All That; and I think shrift and I only went for pizza and beer; and Liese, The Boy, and I ate at Rock Bottom.)
But if you grow up eating it, hey, that's what normal tastes like. Nom.
I liked it! It wasn't chili, but I liked it.
I find the quickest way to punch up the flavor of veggie chili is a jar of good salsa.
Yeah, I use a good fresh salsa instead of tomato paste or stewed tomatoes. But that's not always an option away from salsa friendly regions.
That sounds like a pretty happy birthday, msbelle.
Props to your brother.

You have to mentally distinguish it from actual chili, and then it's really good.
msbelle, I'm so glad you have a brother like your brother.
