So come, my friends, be not afraid/We are so lightly here/It is in love that we are made; In love we disappear

We have a counter. One. That also has a sink. Actual counter space? about a foot on each side of the sink. WTF, 1920's homebuilders!?!

Kitchens of this era were on the early end of the built-in, and there was probably still the expectation that the majority of work surfaces would be furniture items.

Plus the counters are tiled and therefore useless as far as cooking surfaces go.

How so? I love tiled counters! I find them far more useful than most other surfaces. Slap a mat on them, and you're good to go! Then wash mat, roll up, and put the hot plates directly on the tile. I miss the ones at my parents' house. Well, not miss. I see them often. Miss LIVING with them. Stupid laminate. Hates it.

Oh, MAN, Grace on the swings kills me dead! Such glee!

We went out on a boat with Lillian today. I think she enjoyed herself, but it was an open boat and raining, so wetness happened.

My best concert ever was Leonard Cohen.

We won’t stop until everyone is gay.

Yay for great twin day!

Lots of good thoughts for your intern, aurelia.

Thunderstorm here. Can't sleep. I think those Wendy's coffee Frosties actually have some caffeine in them, who knew.

Mmm. I want a coffee frosty now. Nom. My space bar is not loving me, it's only partly working. Hrmph.

Two hours ago I looked at the clock and went "wow, it feels so much later than 8:30! I could get so much done!"...and suddenly it's two hours later and I have...gotten nothing done. Sigh.

We won’t stop until everyone is gay.

While I wait for the Benedryl to kick in and my heart to stop pounding, a story about awkwardness.

Last night I was set to meet up with an old friend I hadn't seen for more than a decade with whom I have a bit of a complicated history. He's long married and has a kid. So we met for dinner and yay! no awkward. We talked and talked until the restaurant closed, so we hopped into his car and went to a bar to keep talking. Just about shut them down, too. Finally he took me back to my car at which point I couldn't find my car keys. So back to the bar before they close, but no joy. Must be at the restaurant. And my house keys were locked in my car and I live 20 minutes away in the opposite direction from his house.

So you know what's awkward? Meeting your friend's FiL at 2:15 am when friend's wife is out of town. I mean, the whole thing was totally rated G but I felt like the unfun kind of brazen hussy.

It was all fine and I had fun playing with the 5 yo the next morning waiting for the restaurant to open but that moment? AWKWARD.

On the upside in talking about old times I learned that I had been judging myself way too harshly on a bit of shared history. So I wasn't really a brazen hussy back then, either! His ex was just psycho and possessive.

Outside on porch listening to rain. Need to clean gutters and reattach downspout.

oh joy! Oh Rapture ! I have a brain!

sounds like a good time all around smonster

When my BIL fell off a ladder he shattered both his heals -- the good news, all of his other joints had no injury. the bad news -- feet issues forever.

The same BIL bought 2 of the metal bats. he decided he needed a mating pair?

and grace on the swing --too much for words

I remember the crazy days. 500 posts an hour. Nubmer! Natgbsb

The alarm was set for 5:15 this morning, but the cats thought 4:30 was a better time for me to get up. On the plus side I got everything done in the house I wanted while mac still slept. Bad side 4:30!

We are at the airport now having coffee and donuts. 1 hour til boarding.

Sounds like the fun outweighed the awkward. And come on now, tell us you were at least a bit of a brazen hussy.

Have an awesome trip, msbelle.

Twin pictures this weekend were a joy to see.
