Everything looks good from here... Yes. Yes, this is a fertile land, and we will thrive. We will rule over all this land, and we will call it... 'This Land.' I think we should call it 'your grave!' Ah, curse your sudden but inevitable betrayal! Ha ha HA! Mine is an evil laugh! Now die! Oh, no, God! Oh, dear God in heaven!

Back tattoos of the mother is that you are absolutely right - Ame

We had a big theater on our high school campus. The Dead often played there, Metallica recorded their S&M concert, and Styx came through with their Kilroy Was Here concert. I ushered for the Styx and got to see them free.

We also had tons of bands come through the Keystone Berkeley. I know I saw a bunch of bands before they hit it big, but I didn't keep track of names. The only one I specifically recall is INXS (Nanita!!).

If you're going through hell/keep on going/don't slow down/keep your fear from showing/you might be gone/'fore the devil even knows you're there

I think my first big concert was Beastie Boys and Fishbone. I'd seen Fishbone and others in small bar shows though.

Because books.

I had no brunch, but S. did make pancakes, and I just did Sara's hair in hot rollers because she wanted to. She's walking all over now, flipping her hair like mad.

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

I can't tell if the oatmeal bread I just too out of the oven is soft on the bottom because it's oatmeal bread or because it's not cooked through. (The thermometer says it is, but my oven is so wonky and unpredictable these days that I can never tell until I cut into something whether or not it was working. Anyone got a spare $5k lying around so I can redo my kitchen?)

Life moves pretty fast. You don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.

First concert was Cat Stevens. I was 13. Best? A couple--They Might be Giants, New Year's Eve 1998. It was just so fun. Also Crowded House just last year. Every Bruce Springsteen concert I have ever been to.

Now tagless for your comfort.

DH thinks we can fly to Florida with two kids, one layover and not check any bags. Seriously. Seriously!

I'd seen Fishbone and others in small bar shows though.

I just saw Fishbone a few weeks ago and they kicked ass.

Why did Darth Vader cross the road? To get to the Dark Side!

First concert was Cat Stevens. I was 13.

Green with envy over here.

Best concert, at least from a purely musical POV, was probably Elvis Costello and Burt Bacharach with full orchestra. But that show didn't compare with some of the visceral moments at smaller gigs. Like seeing Psychic TV at the Troubadour and having Genesis bend down and cradle my cheek, or seeing The Waterboys in Dublin and realizing I was standing right next to Bono and Adam Clayton.

Our wings are not tired.

Suzi, I am not the only one in history who thought Hutchence sang for The Inkses. I am sure of it. Right???

C is crazy, Cashmere. But you know that already. Also, he's a wonderful husband too, and you know that. But, yeah, crazycakes.

Jessica, taste it?

Scrappy, when is your tv show filming?? And I feel your painr re: politics. I've just agreed to attend another HS graduation in Kerrville, TX. My evangelical branch of the family...I love them dearly but it's always so hard to hold my tongue.
