Natter 65: Speed Limit Enforced by Aircraft
Off-topic discussion. Wanna talk about corsets, pandas, duct tape, or physics? This is the place. Detailed discussion of any current-season TV must be whitefonted.
First concert was Cat Stevens. I was 13.
Green with envy over here.
Best concert, at least from a purely musical POV, was probably Elvis Costello and Burt Bacharach with full orchestra. But that show didn't compare with some of the visceral moments at smaller gigs. Like seeing Psychic TV at the Troubadour and having Genesis bend down and cradle my cheek, or seeing The Waterboys in Dublin and realizing I was standing right next to Bono and Adam Clayton.
Suzi, I am not the only one in history who thought Hutchence sang for The Inkses. I am sure of it. Right???
C is crazy, Cashmere. But you know that already. Also, he's a wonderful husband too, and you know that. But, yeah, crazycakes.
Jessica, taste it?
Scrappy, when is your tv show filming?? And I feel your painr re: politics. I've just agreed to attend another HS graduation in Kerrville, TX. My evangelical branch of the family...I love them dearly but it's always so hard to hold my tongue.
Not to be confused with the concert I saw six months later at RFK stadium when Bono dislocated his shoulder in the middle and had his arm in a sling for the encore.
I saw them a couple nights later at Foxboro! The Pogues opened for them, which was a pity because nobody paid any attention except me & the friends I was with, who knew who they were.
But still, the Pogues are simply not an arena band.
Every Bruce Springsteen concert I have ever been to.
Hah! Word, Scrappy, although I admit I miss the days when he would tell stories between the songs. And the shows are shorter than they used to be, too. Still awesome, though.
I had cereal for breakfast after going running. Now it's time for hella yard work. bah.
seeing The Waterboys in Dublin and realizing I was standing right next to Bono and Adam Clayton.
OMG.

And don't forget the Flaubert, bah!!!
Oh, Jesse. You haven't heard about my U2 experience have you? Evil laugh!
It will have to wait for later though since I gotta get out the door.
I am in the homestretch of doing the taxes. We will actually be getting a refund this year, but only because we paid estimated taxes last year, and then I was out of work for a few months.
Bah, Flaubert!
I feel guilty, but I'd much rather be reading The Hundred Thousand Kingdoms instead.
And I'd rather be reading the Willie Mays biography Steve gave me for graduation!
But still, the Pogues are simply not an arena band.
I totally agree.
I want to hear your U2 experience, javachik! It's got to be a story.
OMG.
Bono checked me out, eyes scanned me up and down. I was very young and too paralyzed with OOST to say anything. Pity that, but it makes for a memory anyway.
I think Burrell wins for coolest concert experience! I was at the Elvis Costello concert in New York that was taped for his live album in a tiny club. It should have been the best ever, but the place was loaded with industry-types, all of whom who were in the back at the bar, talking loudly. Did I mention it was a tiny club? Elvis had to ask them to be quiet a couple of times and I was so FURIOUS at their selfishness that I could not enjoy the show.
TV show films from April 8-12 (with the weekend off). I have lost 10 lbs so far. Only need to lose, oh, 20 more in a week, that or grow four inches.
