Some Keith Sweat came up on my iPod earlier when I was walking around, and I almost had to sit down.

The Best of Keith Sweat cd is the truth. That is in heavy rotation on my ipod. What I really wanted was for Make it Last Forever to be our prom theme. Sadly, it was not. I don't even remember what was.

I resisted the superiority of the Boyz II Men version of Can You Stand the Rain for a long, long time because how can you beat the Johnny Gill growl, right? I was only convinced because a friend of mine, slightly obssessed with Boyz II Men, made me sit down and listen to both versions back to back repeatedly. The NE version will always have my heart, but Boyz II Men killed it vocally. NE had some serious weak links in their vocal arsenal. (Biv and Devoe, I'm looking at you)

“Not dead yet!”

All born in the same year. All born in the midwest.

Yep. And all with MASSIVE tours in 1984/85. I still remember people practically selling their grandmothers in order to score tickets in the Purple Circle at the Orange Bowl. U2, Def Leppard and Bruce also had ginormous tours that year. It was a crazy year.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

I had to pull out the music. All of these songs kill me so much.

The NE version will always have my heart, but Boyz II Men killed it vocally.

I'm sure that's true. But still.

I so did not get boy bands. I was busy drowning out my brother with U2, Siouxie, TMBG, NIN and (horrors to him) Tori Amos.

He still credits me with him knowing all the NIN lyrics. Head like a hole...

Crap, now I'm going to have to make a play list that runs New Edition through Jodeci.

Dude, the acapella that Boyz II Men pulled out for their version of that song is not to be trifled with. It's just a beautiful, beautiful thing.

Still love New Edition, though. Candy Girl is one of the most perfect pop songs ever.

I'm getting the pig!

That's a very good hint that until now you've been hidden in their feed.

BUT! It could be that your friend might not be able to get on facebook as much as she'd like or that she has a lot of friends and doesn't scroll down all the time to catch up with what everyone posted since she was last on facebook or that she hasn't bothered to hide all of the rpg game announcements auto-posted by some of her other friends so she fails to see important things like pics of your gorgeous pups. Until now.

Um. Not that I've been recently accused of hiding someone that I actually care about or anything like that. Nope.

The status is NOT quo.

I have decided that every time our niece becomes a fan of some horrible Facebook group like "I'm in America, I shouldn't have to 'Press 1 for English'" (I kid you not), I have to join something to balance her out.

"I keep to a strict diet of ill-advised enthusiasm and heartfelt regret." Leigh Bardugo

So the latest meme on facebook has been around the first concert you've seen.

So I ask you, what was your first concert?

Oh, man, Jodeci! Now I just want to make a playlist of 80s and 90s black boy bands: NE, Boyz II Men, Jodeci, Shai, H-Town, 112. Dude. What ever happened to black boy bands? They've totally fallen off.
