I'm terrifically busy with my ennui.

Great. I'm sick. I'm at work anyway because I'm so swamped and I leave tomorrow at 6:30AM on a business trip for a week. I called my manager to beg off of the hour-and-a-half staff meeting this afternoon, and she is Not Happy. I could hear the capital letters over the phone.

The feeling you get when your brain finally lets your heart get in its pants.

The Sudafed has interfered with your sleep before, hasn't it?

Mine? No. It might, but not so far.

"This bar smells like kerosene and stripper tears."

Because it's better to have one person miss a staff meeting today than a bunch miss the in next few days.

I do not understand some managers.

Cats to become a rabbit should gather immediately now here

Well, you know, sickness is weakness of character. As is taking a lunch break.

That man was going to shank me. Over an omelette. Two eggs and a slice of government cheese. Is that what my life is worth?

Behind-the-counter 12-hour Sudafed

Ahhh, blue Sudafed. That usually works for me. This last time, it did not and I wanted to sob. Advil Cold & Sinus did do the trick, however.

I'm terrifically busy with my ennui.

Aaaand I left my Sudafed at home. Great.

My manager is not an unreasonable person, and I'm sure lots of people try to get out of staff meetings with stupid excuses. Today is just a bad day for me.

Ann, that's a ferret.

The Fox News headline is "Obama Moves to Grant Amnesty to Haitian Illegal Aliens".

At least 1/3 of the problem with fringe-y right-wing wackjobs is that they ahve so much access to the media.

I don't think I've ever tried to get out of a staff meeting. I'm not sure how mandatory ours are though. I mean for the one I run, I imagine I am a must have (also I am the keeper of The Spreadsheet without which all kinds of chaos occurs). We used to have a staff meeting that was likely mandatory, but I always wanted to go because a) I like my team b) they were actually pretty entertaining and c) they often came with lunch.

My creative meeting on Tuesdays is one of my favorite meetings in the history of meetings and that includes a mexican food and tequila fueled brainstorming session.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

While hunting for Haiti news I came across this story about a Jamaican Muslim hate cleric soliciting killing Jews and Hindus. How special. Somehow he managed to get tangled up in shenanigans--one of his supporters was killed by Kenyan police. The Kenyan authorities are having trouble deporting him because either no one will accept him or no one will fly him.
