I’m responsible for my own happiness? I can’t even be responsible for my own breakfast! (Bojack Horseman)

Yes, it's hard enough to get a 1st job.

Not according to Andy Rooney on last night's 60 Minutes!!

Cats to become a rabbit should gather immediately now here

They are very angry about the bill. I told them I was very happy, and work nemesis asked why, because I was going to get screwed too. I said I didn't think I was, and that even if I ended up paying more (which I doubt, but it is possible) I would be happy if it meant that people at the poverty level and their children could go to the doctor instead of the emergency room.

Of course, our problem here in upstate NY is that we have a HUGE shortage of primary care physicians. Our Med school graduating class only had one person going in to primary care last year, and there will be none this year. Because they feel that PCP's do not make enough money.

What exactly did Rooney say?

IcompletelyON, my mom got her bulldog yesterday! No pictures yet (although I called her an hour ago begging for some to be emailed this afternoon--I hope my brother gets right on it), but she's definitely making herself at home. Mom's trying to break her of the habit of jumping on the furniture, although she might be more lenient about the couch than her two brand-new leather chairs. She was a big hit at PetsMart this morning; everyone had to come over and pet her.

Oh, and according to my brother, who slept in the living room last night to keep her company while she was in her crate, she's a snorer (kept him awake for hours).

uh, more or less that there isn't really any reason why people should be out of work.

My recollection might be tempered by TEH RAGE.

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

I went to downtown Evanston for lunch. Then I went to Radio Shack to pick up Cylon parts. Luckily, the guy didn't ask me what I needed the parts for, else I'd be all, "Nothing! Not a Cylon! Why?"

I think the coolest part will be the infrared motion detector. (It's the same thing that's used in alarm systems to detect motion.)

He would have been real helpful during the Great Depression.

What, doesn't he know that the economy can, you know, go bad, causing people to lose jobs?

Rooney should talk to plumbers and electricians and then he'd discover that they're out of a job, too. Jerk.

No pictures yet (although I called her an hour ago begging for some to be emailed this afternoon--I hope my brother gets right on it), but she's definitely making herself at home. Congrats to your mom, Kathy!

I had a baby bulldog client this last weekend. They are, indeed, made of adorable...but require an even stronger boundaries than most breeds.

Forgive me for butting in, as the doggy lama, but to save problems later, it's good to know that a dog's mind works on the basis of 'always and never.' Allowing access to furniture without permission is generally a not-good idea, but allowing access to some furniture and not others is really confusing. Leniency = anxiety.

With a bulldog, the best way to break the jumping up habit is to use a quiet body-block, with a very slight bend at the waist. This 'psychological fencing' should be held until the little one gets bored and turns away. Praise her and give a distracting toy (or treat) when she moves away from the claimed object.

And again, congrats!
