I just have to fill him with love and compassion and hope that he will eventually get it a little bit.
This is beautiful.
I am so amused to hear all the non-washers, rarely washers coming out of the woodwork. For many years now I've been washing my hair about once a week. All of a sudden I feel like it's the new normal.
ita and burrell, I have nail polish for you! And the round robin box arrived but with a bottle broken (which I'll try to clean up before I forward everything to liese).
Whoot woo! I've been anticipating its arrival you know. Guess this means we should arrange a get together at some point. Or just default to next weekend.
Oh brother. If you want to listen to the interview, it's here: [link]
Or just default to next weekend.
This is what I was assuming. Though I do need to go to Surfas at some point.
Is there going to be some upcoming tvtropes book deal? Because usually when you see press on stuff everywhere, someone has sent out a press release. Also, couldn't they talk to Jilli re: Gothic Charm School instead?
So, moving to New Orleans: good idea?
Pros (compared to moving to Bay area)
- lower cost of living
- many opportunities to be involved in rebuilding efforts/volunteering and other non-profit work
- not cold in the summer
Cons: (compared to moving to Bay Area)
- don't know anyone there
- very hot in the summer
Factors true for both:
- awesome places to live
- great food, drink, music, people
so... Heather, Dana, ita, (Hil??), and others who have lived in New Orleans, I'd love to get your thoughts.
My thoughts exactly, Perkins.
Is there going to be some upcoming tvtropes book deal?
I've just checked Pub Marketplace-- nothing in the last twelve months that I can see, re: a possible book deal. And that kind of press is usually accompanied with some mention of a deal, so, make of that what you will.
Believe me, no one is as surprised as the two of us that we are seriously considering a Louisiana relocation! I just fell in love with the city (considering my first trip there was this past May and this was my third visit there.) I have been inspired by the city to think about life in terms greater than myself, greater than my job title, salary, or other material things.
Everywhere I went during this most recent trip, I kept hearing stories about people sick of their lives, packing up and moving to New Orleans with no real plan but to try to find a soul-satisfying and joyful life.
Through my short exposure to life in the lower Ninth last week, I feel very connected and committed to the idea of helping rebuild the community any way I can.
I know it sounds crazy!
We're on On the Media? Oh. Huh. I listen to their podcast every week, it's okay for an NPR show (semi-intellectual but hardly cutting edge).
Between Dana's "Wait Wait" thing and now this, I wonder if we're being stalked by some NPR intern...
Macy's suit sale was sort of a success, in that I spent money, but the one suit I really liked I let my sister buy. And now I should go see my parents except Dad switched the phone over to Fax and I can't get through to them. Which is annoying.
