Just got this in an email from my minister: The Knight Templars are making arrangements for a 30 seat plane and a helicopter to fly us from New Orleans to Jacmel and then to La Vallee. OMG, my boss, my boss. We just had this talk about "white privilege" where she talked about how she told the one black, gay man at our school that she identifies more with him than with rich white people because she doesn't have any privilege either. I'm thinking he LOVED that. then she said "See, he pulled himself up out of a bad situation and so did I. And look at him, the way he dresses and speaks and carries himself-- he is the epitome of "professionalism" @@ I had to refrain from mentioning that she would not even THINK about saying the same thing about our white male professor, who is actually sort of frumpy and wears turtlenecks and lab coats. Do people even fucking listen to themselves.

In other news, I hit a dog last night on the way home. Killed the poor thing pretty much instantly (which may be a blessing in disguise; since it was laying down in the middle of a highway at rush hour, I suspect it had been hit and immobilized by a car up ahead of me). And I'll be buying a new radiator instead of the laptop I'd planned.
