I'm sorry that I slept later than people on the West Coast this morning. I just stayed up way too late and had nothing on my schedule this morning.

I don't know what the undercooked/raw seafood link to pregnancy is, but with a couple of miscarriages, she might be being extra careful.
There's a risk of parasites in raw fish and meat, but it's also very much a regional/cultural thing. (Pregnant women in Tokyo eat sushi, pregnant women in Paris avoid raw vegetables, etc.)
I find that I'm eating a LOT more foods on the "don't" list the second time around than I was with D. Pretty much the only thing I'm actively avoiding is alcohol.
Happy birthday, msbelle!

The east coast team was very slackerish today. Disappointing, when I needed the internets most. Ah, well. I'm cleaned up and dressed ahead of time, so I can watch half an hour of Supernatural guilt-free and still make it into work on time. Tired like a dog, though. At least I leave work early today.

You should be horse-whipped for the insult you have paid to the highest office of our nation.
And it goes on like that.
Thank you all. I am wearing a vintage black and white tiny check shirtwasit dress and rhinestone sparkly earrings.
Work continues to try and beat me down, but I am putting up a fight.
I'm kinda amazed by the text-messaging revolution wrt donations. I mean, that's ideal. It's impulse-driven, allows a person to give incrementally, and give often as emotions are engaged.
The only downside I can see is that, according to the NYT article I just read, it can take up to 90 days for the organizations to actually receive the funds. So giving via web is faster.
I think my future giving will be targeted through Partners in Health. I like that it's run by Haitians, not foreigners, and they operate 10 hospitals that are outside the capital and not damaged by the quake. [link]
If you're not following everything Roger Ebert writes these days, you're missing out. It's both heartbreaking and incredibly uplifting - like he know's he's winding down so he's getting out all the things he wants to say while he can.
And because it deserves its own post, happy birthday msbelle!
I love the descriptions of what you wear. It's inspiring.

Don't know if anyone's posted this yet, but The Big Give is matching donations for Haiti (up to £500 per each person's donation) until they run out funds to do so. You probably have to be in Europe to give via the site, although I'm not sure. The site is great, anyway, and it's a fantastic commitment on the part of its funders.
