You have to remember that being a 5-time Olympic medalist means Hilary Knight has been playing hockey at an elite level at least 16 years. It's impossible for her to be a teenage girl less than 16 years old, thus the President's complete lack of interest.

Caught two more mice over the weekend, and took Mr. and Mrs. Stuart Little on a nice trip into the country where they can get to know their new friends Mr. Hawk and Mrs. Feral Cat.

“Not dead yet!”

As suspected, the anxiety fears amounted to less than nothing. Loved seeing my friend, her family was awesome, and found myself and the other friend that I went with cornered by Uncle Sam (AKA of shitmydadsays fame) for more than two hours, talking writing and publishing, because God love him, he's an aspiring novelist and is working really hard at it and wanted to pick our brains.

Needless to say, he's delightful and charming and we had a blast, the the friend I went with and the friend we'd gone to see escaped to go have dinner and some girl talk, so that was fun too.

Coding and Sleeping

I'm surprised as many people write novels as they do. It's a lot of work.

I hope it turns out to be nothing serious for the SO, Liese. Plenty of health~ma.

Because books.

See, Barb? I'm glad you went. I can't imagine you being shy in the first place, to be honest.

"Faded like the lilac, he thought."

Good, Barb. I`m glad to hear it. That`s usually how these things pan out. Now if only I could remember that next time for myself!

Blech, theo & brenda. No fun.

My fingernails are black and I blame you all. But a) super cheap Walgreens polish (what? it was an impulse buy) and b) likely to fail catastrophically shortly as I am really tough on my nails. I like how they look now, though I was doing them and saying to myself how I really really don`t know how to do this.

I am not undergoing DST woes other than the fact that all my tv just shifted, but Tivo is alleviating that woe. Because we still don`t change. All you crazy time changing freaks.

I am sleeping in anyway because the SO declined my accompaniment to the doc.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Doesn't black polish almost look better chipped, anyway?

Meanwhile, I'm having a crisis of confidence, because I can't figure out a new way to write something I've written a hundred times already. And my boss basically told me it sucked last week. BLEH.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Doesn't black polish almost look better chipped, anyway?

Spike flashback.

Did your boss think it sucked all 100 times before, Jesse?

Hmm. Coworker I snark with is working from home today. ::selfish pout::

Yes, definitely glad I went. As for the shy thing, it's relative. I'm not shy if I know people, but going into a situation for the first time is always stressful for me. My first RWA conference, even though it was a little bitty chapter conference, I was petrified, because I knew no one and I went by myself and I'm not one of those people who can just walk up to others and introduce myself and insinuate myself into conversations.

Even yesterday, while we were just sitting around and chatting, the friend I went with observed, "You know, the older folks tend to come and sit beside you-- I think it's the air of calm and reserve that you project."

Which, okay-- calm and reserve is at least a step up from "come too close and I'll cut you," which has historically been my usual default. Still means the cute guys don't come sit near me, but like I said, it appears to be an improvement.
