It's an aftershock. A large one (7.2), but the original earthquake was pretty big, too. Aftershocks from an earthquake that big could continue for years.

Susan Longacre takes a walk each morning in Wilbraham Park, where several tree branches have been covered in the handiwork of the Midnight Knitter.

I made it into the office after working two days at home. I don't think this was a wise idea. I'm ready to fall asleep at my desk and I have a blazing headache. I don't even think a full strength caffeine IV would get me moving at a reasonable pace.
Now I'm trying to figure out how the Midnight Knitter knit those and got them on the trees -- the only way I can see is actually knitting them on the trees, with circular needles, unless there's some seam that the picture doesn't show.
Nevermind. I looked closer, and I do see seams.
