That man was going to shank me. Over an omelette. Two eggs and a slice of government cheese. Is that what my life is worth?

I heartily endorse both the purple and Cowgirl Jesse.

Every now and then, I think I might actually be a little odd.

ooo, stealth purple.

How'd it get so late? I need to go ready myself for the Public. I'm going to see a friend in a production of Angels in America. I want to see him, but I also want to get in inside pants and stay cuddled on the couch with the cat.

“Not dead yet!”

I like the purple muchly.

I also need opinions. I'm going to a wedding in early April in Austin. It's lakeside, late afternoon/early evening and the recommended dress is "garden party," with flats recommended for the women so they can walk down to the lake and presumably, not get stuck.

Which, great, I'll wear a spring-colored tea-length dress with flats. Love that style anyhow. Except tea-length dresses are an absolute BITCH to find these days that don't look like bridesmaids dresses.

I found two that could potentially work. So...

Beige w/ embroidered flowers and rose cummerbund

Or...

Pink linen with lace appliques and embroidery?

I'm concerned that the pink might look too washed out and/or childish on me and I'm worried that the beige might be just too bland.

Thoughts?

Because books.

Purple! WHOO!

I don't think the pink is you at all, Barb. Seems too frilly, and I see you in bolder colors and less adornment. I love the beige, but you could be right about the color.

“Not dead yet!”

Yeah, Amy, I'm kind of thinking the same thing about the pink. It kind of makes me twitch, just looking at the frill factor.

But the beige is just so... beige.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

I'm not in love with either of them for the occasion, Barb. I see you more in a blue or a green.

Barb, I was just looking at those very dresses this morning! How about the navy-and-white hooded dress on the same page?

“Not dead yet!”

Zen, I took a look at that one and I like it a lot, but I worry about the sleeves. Things that end at that mid-point of my upper arm tend to make me look like a linebacker. I don't know why and it's infuriating, because it rules out a LOT of dresses I might love otherwise.

Now, another option might be this skirt with a silver or pale gold top?

If you're going through hell/keep on going/don't slow down/keep your fear from showing/you might be gone/'fore the devil even knows you're there

Yes, I like that option.
