Goodbye and Good Riddance 2009: So long and thanks for all the fish.

Every year we watch the Charlie Brown special, do the Snoopy dance, wish everybody a Merry Christmukkah, and thank our Secret Santas in the good riddance thread. Which is this one, in case you were wondering. Oh, and 2009? Don't think we've forgotten about you

We won’t stop until everyone is gay.

That is why the good ornaments are carefully positioned away from cat-accessible areas, and the type of tree is selected for its ability to discourage climbing.

My parents tether theirs to the wall.

And since we're discussing cats, removing the Christmas tree does not seem to have stopped my roomie's cat. This morning the little fucker walked into my room (a first), sniffed at my cats' water and food bowls (right inside the door) and turned around and sprayed. In front of me. I yelled at him, but damn. Those Feliway plug-ins are starting to look more reasonable.

She'd give him another home, but who's going to take a deaf cat who sprays?

We're all getting played with, babe. -Weird Barbie

Once spraying starts, it's really hard to stop. I recommend getting Anti Icky Poo (yes, that's really its name) and dousing every area that has ever been sprayed. You can also use a UV light to look for pee stains to treat. We've had a lot of experience with this, sadly, since my elder cat occasionally has peeing/spraying issues, and the only things that have worked are the AIP combined with giving him time outside (contained). You should also make sure this cat has his own litter box that is kept meticulously clean, and Feliway may also help. Shelters will destroy any cat who sprays since they are seen as un-adoptable.

Kristin, thanks for the advice. I got a UV light recently and I've been using Petastic but I'll check out AIP. He does have his own box, and she does a pretty good job of keeping it clean.

All sorrows can be borne if you put them into a story. Tell me a story.

Not javachik

I had to be persuaded into the cult of Feliway by my catch-neuter-release "sponsor" but am now firmly in the camp of it's-great. It lasts a long time, so consider the cost amortized over two, three, four months.

What else besides ramen can you scoop? YOU CAN SCOOP THIS WORLD FROM DARKNESS!

I just ate the last white chocolate pistachio cluster. I am so sad. I think those are up there with Trader Joe's dark chocolate covered almonds. Oh, Snowies! You have made me reevaluate my position on white chocolate.

All is well that ends in pizza.

The only problem with white chocolate is wading through all the bad imitations. they say they are white chocolate and end up being flavorless and waxy. Kind of like you find in variations of regular chocolate, but without as many visual cues.
