Our boys are 25-0 now and district champs. Game went to OT. Very exciting. Now for calzones and red wine to unwind and celebrate. Whew.

G'morning, people. The Girl got me a beautiful hand-made rosary for Valentine's Day. How awesome is that? (I, knowing that neither of us like this holiday, didn't get her anything. Oops. She doesn't mind.)

y'all crack me up. You took more offense at the work v-day thing than I, and at deeper levels. I just look at it from a whiny, selfish, tired-of-being-alone level. Didn't even think of the religious level. It is kinda weird how the vast majority of admin folks are coupled. Come to think of it, I'm one of the few single folk in the whole company. maybe 10% of us are. Crazy.

ION- I have plane ticket and car reservation. I will be in SoCal! Landing Feb 27 in early afternoon. Leaving Tuesday at 1pm. Monday will be a very busy day. Eeep!

Apologies to da haters.

It is very exciting that the boys are district champs. We made a big deal out of showing where the banner would go in the gym and so forth. There are 5 more games to go to be state champions. Every single one is must win or season over. Of course for most schools season is over. Most of the teams to play are teams we haven't seen so we don't know what we are facing either. The boys are awesome. Everything you would want in champions. Focused, disciplined, controlled with great sportsmanship.

Since it is too quiet here I'll blab on some more about the game. One of the high points was one of the cheerleaders singing the national anthem before game start. Great cheers from the crowd for her effort.

Alas there was appalling bad sportsmanship demonstrated by the opposing team. They were district champs last year and entered the gym chanting "we're the champs" led by the coaches. (We won against them earlier in the season) Then I was surprised to see them send out their shortest player to the tip off. For those not familiar with basketball, at the game start traditionally the tallest player from each side meet at the center to jump and direct the tossed ball to their team. The "tradition" with this team is that they are so hot that they don't need to win the tip off so they send their guard. Not impressive to either the fans or the refs.

Then after a very long hard fought game they knocked over their chairs and left a ton of debris (water bottles, etc) on the floor. They left the gym after a grim congrats to our team instead of staying for the award presentation. They did come back out, but pretty much because it is the only way out of the gym.

Honestly, you never see bad sportsmanship from our team. At the very beginning of the year the players learn if you express anger or gloating on the court you not only end up on the bench, you are likely to end up in the stands. They are respectful to the coaches, fans, officials, and the game. It was shocking for us to see the contrast. I don't blame the kids because it was clearly coaching fail.

eta: If one of our boys ever left garbage on the floor they would be cleaning the whole gym. Our head coach don't play around.
