'Out Of Gas'

Spike's Bitches 45: That sure as hell wasn't in the brochure.

[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risqué (and frisqué), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.

Love is stronger than death and harder than sorrow. Those who practice it are fierce like the light of stars traveling eons to pierce the night.

The cursory check they gave him when I dropped him off at the vet's showed that his bladder was not distended, so yay for no blockages. That makes it all the more likely that this is an ordinary UTI. So they have him confined to a kennel with an empty litter box so they can collect a sample for UA without using the long, nasty needle.

Ya, I've had to temper my reactions in Facebook. Apparently they called an "Emergency Company Meeting" yesterday to coincide with the press release. Funny thing is, they are in tech, and the production folk couldn't make the meeting. It makes me wonder why they had to announce it so rapidly.

Always Anti-fascist!

Dude...Keith Olbermann was on Kos this morning(Not terribly unusual, although imagine it as if Spike stopped in here to get our sympathy about the poncy bugger that owes him fifty quid, or something...the moaning, the groaning, the offers to incubate his children) But I did find out one thing that blew my image just a touch... Keith Olbermann used an emoticon, and not just any emoticon...it was a fricking girly smiley. I'm...gonna need a moment. Seriously, sir, shame, you can haz it?(Internet complaint...lolcat Comment moment.) I suppose we'd know the right was partially right about Keith if his niece and nephew drag him out of somewhere, ninety and demented, translating two pages of commentary into LOLCat.

There are girly ones and manly ones?? Wow, did not realize that. I wonder if I've been using the girly one?

Ann, that's a ferret.

I'd want to know context. I'd rather see an occasional emoticon than blunder into a mess because I couldn't tell the difference between a joke and a serious.

But that's just me.

Ha...isn't it ironic? To find that my absolutely mock-bitching about emoticons might need one...or at least a snark tag. And as far as I know, emoticons have no gender, although like LOLs do kind of make me think of young girls. I should never follow kids or animals. Glad to know Harvey's problem isn't too serious.

“Not dead yet!”

Yay for no bladder distention on Harvey. Here's hoping it's something simple.

I have just spent the last two hours getting my serious geek on, checking and double checking references and reserving a book at Barnes & Noble to have to hand...

For one freakin' line of poetry I used in STARS. (Federico García Lorca, btw)

I want to make absolutely certain I have a correct attribution and am using the translation I most want. I was thisclose to emailing a poetry scholar at Boston U. who specializes in the Spanish poets to ask his opinion on which translation he felt was most true to the original work.

Once an academic wonk, always an academic wonk.

ha! Reinforces my desire to have a sarcasm/snark font. Something to help with 'tone of voice' that can't be heard in typing.

"We're all stories, in the end. Just make it a good one, eh?"

Harvey~ma, and yay for probable only-UTI.

I have to work very hard to control my fondness for emoticons. It's better now that I'm in my thirties. I'd like to think it's my autistic spectrum condition making me assume no one will know which emotion I'm communicating. In reality it's probably just my sappiness.

There are (loud) kids lining up outside our house, waiting for some kind of heavy metal night at a nearby theatre. The theatre is about 200 metres away. That's quite a queue to be standing in.*

*Look at that. Two British spellings, a British term and the metric system, all in one paragraph. I'm a high-achieving type.
