Jayne (Husband): Oh, I think you might wanna reconsider that last part. See, I married me a powerful ugly creature. Mal (Wife): How can you say that? How can you shame me in front of new people? Jayne (Husband): If I could make you purtier, I would. Mal (Wife): You are not the man I met a year ago.

Spike's Bitches 45: That sure as hell wasn't in the brochure.

[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risqué (and frisqué), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.

Always Anti-fascist!

Ha...isn't it ironic? To find that my absolutely mock-bitching about emoticons might need one...or at least a snark tag. And as far as I know, emoticons have no gender, although like LOLs do kind of make me think of young girls. I should never follow kids or animals. Glad to know Harvey's problem isn't too serious.

“Not dead yet!”

Yay for no bladder distention on Harvey. Here's hoping it's something simple.

I have just spent the last two hours getting my serious geek on, checking and double checking references and reserving a book at Barnes & Noble to have to hand...

For one freakin' line of poetry I used in STARS. (Federico García Lorca, btw)

I want to make absolutely certain I have a correct attribution and am using the translation I most want. I was thisclose to emailing a poetry scholar at Boston U. who specializes in the Spanish poets to ask his opinion on which translation he felt was most true to the original work.

Once an academic wonk, always an academic wonk.

ha! Reinforces my desire to have a sarcasm/snark font. Something to help with 'tone of voice' that can't be heard in typing.

"We're all stories, in the end. Just make it a good one, eh?"

Harvey~ma, and yay for probable only-UTI.

I have to work very hard to control my fondness for emoticons. It's better now that I'm in my thirties. I'd like to think it's my autistic spectrum condition making me assume no one will know which emotion I'm communicating. In reality it's probably just my sappiness.

There are (loud) kids lining up outside our house, waiting for some kind of heavy metal night at a nearby theatre. The theatre is about 200 metres away. That's quite a queue to be standing in.*

*Look at that. Two British spellings, a British term and the metric system, all in one paragraph. I'm a high-achieving type.

Days shrink and grow cold, sunlight through leaves is my song. Winter is long.

All good vibes for Harvey and his humans.

Barb, I did much the same thing for a clutch of Rilke quotes. And then I bought the "right" translations, since I'd had to do second-hand book search on a couple that were OOP.

Seriously, Jilli, you can't keep missing this! It's not allowed!

OMG, Bev, just this morning I was thinking about asking the hivemind if anyone knew a good translation of Rielke. I keep hearing excerpts of poems and really liking them. Can you give me a link or two?

IOsemi-relatedN, I am officially 100% twitterpated with MFJ, he of the poetry slamming and the severe cat allergy having and the Chicago living. He can flirt like hell one second and reference Maslow's Hierarchy the next. And it's pretty mutual. I've set up a fare alert to Chicago.

Twitter.

Pated.

I want to go to there.

I must obey the inscrutable exhortations of my soul—Calvin and Hobbs

It's my bff's birthday today. I forgot it, aside from sending her an email, because neither of us really bother with birthdays anymore. But she's in Charlottesville, VA (in range of the Snowmageddon), and mentioned that she really wished she had a shovel, so I ordered her one for Saturday delivery. It probably won't make it, but I'm sure she'll still want it Monday.

Calli, that's a wonderful and timely gift. I've been thinking I should probably get one at some point.
