Had a very weird moment just now. Was on the phone and, for the first time, unthinkingly said "my mother's house" while referring to an event in the past instead of "my parents' house". I've been saying "my parents' house. Well, my mom's house now" or having to think before I said it. This time, it just came out. I'm not quite sure how I feel.
Spike's Bitches 45: That sure as hell wasn't in the brochure.
[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risqué (and frisqué), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.
Aww. That's a rough transition.
I still make references both ways with my mom's house. I get an odd twinge each way.
Yay, Barb!
(((Vortex))) I'm sorry, that's tough.
That's great, Barb!

Yeah, it was a little weird when I started talking about staying at my dad's, or my dad's house.
I got used to that pretty quickly in the present, but when I was telling a story about something that happened when my dad was alive, it was "my parents' house". I was talking about my surgery 5 years ago and said "my mom's house". It was just wierd. I mean, it's not like I hadn't accepted his death or anything, it's just weird.
I haven't been through that, Vortex, but I grok the weirdness.
Barb, that is wonderful!

Roomie has made the cat exchange. Nik has gone to a no kill shelter and Lucy has joined us. She's has IBS and can't eat other food. Wish us all luck!

The Boy called to tell me he was working late, but was going to leave soon, and did I want him to pick up Indian on the way home?
Dear god I love that man. Mater paneer, aloo saag, and the best garlic naan I have ever had are on their way!
