Mal: Well, look at this! Appears we got here just in the nick of time. What does that make us? Zoe: Big damn heroes, sir.

'Safe'

Spike's Bitches 45: That sure as hell wasn't in the brochure.

[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risqué (and frisqué), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.

Love is stronger than death and harder than sorrow. Those who practice it are fierce like the light of stars traveling eons to pierce the night.

Finding a pub in the countryside sounds like a perfect way to spend a Saturday.

Thanks again for all the birthday wishes!

See? I gave everybody here an opportunity to tell me what a bad person I am and nobody did, because I fuckin' rule.

{{{Seska}}} Many vibes, and may you find a good snug pub that's just right for an afternoon of quiet utter escape. (Or noisy rowdy steam-letting-off escape if you find you need that more.) I'm sorry The Girl's family is so awful, and sorry they can't see the excellence of you, and utterly mystified that the most important thing to them isn't simply that their Girl is well and loved and cherished and happy.

If you truly love and respect your child--the actual fully adult human your child has grown into, not whatever you might have imagined or expected when zie was tiny--what more can you possibly want than that?

"And that's why God Almighty gave us fire insurance and the public defender".

Hello, I am skipping again.

I'm scanning hundreds of old family photographs, (circa) 1930 - 1970. Some are freaking awesome. One is from the late 19th century. Some are horrifying. And now I can tell the difference between Hungarian, Polish and German, though I can't tell wtf is written there. Some of are from the 60's in U.S., with my dad and grandparents. Some are from my dad's step-dad life, so we have no idea who these people are (but we have some clues. One is that he had a Swedish girlfriend. Other is that he was in Iraq during WW2, as a captain in the RAMC. Another is that he spent some time in America, and we have two wonderful pictures from there). Another was named by us "The Sisters of the Alpine Monastery", and when I'll upload them all to Flickr you'll see why.

This is taking freaking ages, and I cannot believe on how many different countries they were taken in, but I'm enjoying this.

I see a lot of brackets in the past 10-15 posts, so I'd like to offer ~ma to those who need it, too.

Edit: saw K and D's LOVELY pictures. I might got a little teary. You are one hell of a beautiful couple.

{{{Seska}}} A pub in the countryside sounds lovely. I hope you have a good day.

Every now and then, I think I might actually be a little odd.

DJ, so much ~ma to you and your friends. Such a loss is devastating.

~ma to everyone as needs it, I've flown past the last zillion posts.

Seska, courage and love to you and your Girl! In-law troubles are a bitch. They should be delighted she's in love with a good person who loves her, and be happy that she's happy. A day by yourselves at a pub in the country sounds like the perfect thing right now.

Made it to airport in great time. Security was easy & empty. Sounds like my flight is half empty. When I checked the bag, the ticket agent put me in row 4, which is better than 17 (back of plane). Since it was half empty, no charge for the seat upgrade. So now I have an hour before pre boarding begins.

Mostly lurking...

I'm watching a friends two teenagers this week while she and her DH are on a company trip to the Caribbean. I just took their 13-year-old daughter to the mall, where we spent a significant amount of time in Lush. We left without buying anything, but just before we left the mall I said, "So, anything else you might want to see before we go?"

"Well, I really liked those bath things."

"You want one?"

"Yeah, but I don't have any money with me."

"Well, this is exactly why your mother left emergency money."

I think her mother might kill me, but it sure was fun!

What's the fun in babysitting if you can't corrupt your charges just a little bit?
