Spike's Bitches 45: That sure as hell wasn't in the brochure.

[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risqué (and frisqué), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.

Punishingly Intricate

We have a wedding wiki (NERDS!). Internal only so far. It's been pretty useful to make sure we are covering all the bases.

We're very stretchy. - Connie Neil

I found this great site of Chicago ghost sign photos, and when I saw this one, I knew I had to post it here--it advertises corsets!

That's the pain / That cuts a straight line down through the heart / We call it love

I am a planner, and I think it will help me to have a how-to guide that's not crazy.

You know, that's a good point; it does take you step-by-step through planning a wedding, which is really helpful. Asides about lesbian moms, underwater ceremonies, and all-night raves: bonus!

edit: Erin, I definitely think it could be useful as a how-to guide.

You mean AWESOME nerds! I think we will mostly be using Google Docs for our planning, because I live for spreadsheets.

"We're all stories, in the end. Just make it a good one, eh?"

My friend* is acting as our wedding planner. She is easily the most organized person in the world (if not the most reliable!) - we have spreadsheets coming out of our ears.

Of course, it would help if we could sort out the issue over the ever-changing date. attempting to grit teeth and bear with the universe patiently. sodding universe.

*amorphia, former Bronzer. It doesn't get any better than a wedding between two people who met online, organized by a fandom friend.

We won’t stop until everyone is gay.

Kate! Hullo, darling o' mine.

I want to wear a red-and-gold dress.

And I do recall that you look FABOO in that color combo. That was the DC f2f, yes?

So exciting! We other Bitches get the vicarious fun of wedding plan and less of the stress! Plus, lessons learned for those of us who may yet someday tie the knot.

I fervently hope that the duct tape will not be necessary. If it is, I request black and red. Those are my colors, you know. If you want me to suffer additionally, go for pastels.

The long-distance flirtation with my divorced hs friend in Chicago (DHSFC? - umm, no)is proceeding apace. By which I mean we're playing phone tag and texting back and forth. Even if it goes absolutely nowhere, it helps me keep in mind the kind of person I want to be dating - even if the concept I have of him is somewhat idealized.

A dress should be tight enough to show you're a woman but loose enough to flee from zombies. — Ginger

Oooh, JZ, that corset is soooo pretty!! I am leaning more and more towards the buy fabric/custom corset. Many of the brocades I am seeing are simply beautiful...it's going to be hard to decide.

I have a very clear idea of the corset, but I am much more amorphous on the skirt. I do NOT think it needs to be custom-made, as I want it to be simple flowing kneecap length A-line. Airy and cool for September. Color and fabric up in the air -- I saw a simply GORGEOUS formal dress at Hall's yesterday, which is KC's fancy-dancy department store -- we were looking at Zenga suits, as DAN is very slim and has very decided sartorial tastes; he told me no black because it washed him out, Euro cut, and "They're TROUSERS, not pants, darling, and I am going to have to have them extensively tailored" OMG SO FUCKING CUTE.

Anyhoo, tangent. The fabric was a light silk, and iridescent emerald and violet. The dress itself was ugly, but the fabric was hawt.

The artist formerly associated with cupcakes.

The Offbreat Bride book is really good, and the woman who wrote it is an awesome person and fun to hang out with.

I'm encouraging my dress ladies to advertise on the site. They are perfect for it!
