Everyone's getting spanked but me.

Spike's Bitches 45: That sure as hell wasn't in the brochure.

[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risqué (and frisqué), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.

A dress should be tight enough to show you're a woman but loose enough to flee from zombies. — Ginger

Oooh, JZ, that corset is soooo pretty!! I am leaning more and more towards the buy fabric/custom corset. Many of the brocades I am seeing are simply beautiful...it's going to be hard to decide.

I have a very clear idea of the corset, but I am much more amorphous on the skirt. I do NOT think it needs to be custom-made, as I want it to be simple flowing kneecap length A-line. Airy and cool for September. Color and fabric up in the air -- I saw a simply GORGEOUS formal dress at Hall's yesterday, which is KC's fancy-dancy department store -- we were looking at Zenga suits, as DAN is very slim and has very decided sartorial tastes; he told me no black because it washed him out, Euro cut, and "They're TROUSERS, not pants, darling, and I am going to have to have them extensively tailored" OMG SO FUCKING CUTE.

Anyhoo, tangent. The fabric was a light silk, and iridescent emerald and violet. The dress itself was ugly, but the fabric was hawt.

The Offbreat Bride book is really good, and the woman who wrote it is an awesome person and fun to hang out with.

I'm encouraging my dress ladies to advertise on the site. They are perfect for it!

We're almost out of coffee filters and there was still one sitting out from the night before so I thought, what the hell, I'll see what re-used grounds turns out. I think I just figured out how my ex's grandmother made coffee.

And I do recall that you look FABOO in that color combo. That was the DC f2f, yes?

Thanks! Yep, I did wear a red-and-gold dress to the DC F2F. I had gotten it in India, which is also where I latched onto the idea of a red-and-gold dress for a wedding dress. Red and gold are traditional Hindu wedding colors, and I think they look amazing. (I present this photo as evidence, from my friend R's wedding in Udaipur a few years ago.) Which reminds me, I may also have someone henna my hands and feet for the ceremony.

Even if it goes absolutely nowhere, it helps me keep in mind the kind of person I want to be dating

This is so important, seriously. Good for you and I hope it's fun!

Heh, Jilli, I should have known you'd know her! She definitely seems like a really fun person to know. Like I said, I'm enjoying the book, and I do think it's useful as a step-by-step guide. I just think the website is probably more useful in terms of resources and inspiration.

Sometimes I think I might just move up to Vermont, open a bookstore or a vegan restaurant. Adam Schlesinger, z''l

I got another interview. It pays less than the others, and it's in an area of the country that I don't know at all, but the job itself looks great -- a postdoc position working on developing a specialized master's program for middle school math teachers.

I'm packing my suitcase to go to SF. I know I'm forgetting something. Possibly several somethings. I've got my medications, and I've got all the papers and files I'll need for my talk and interviews. Those seem to be the important things that I can't just buy new if I forget them.

She was the main brains behind the Microspotting site, and interviewed me for that. Then we just started trading email back and forth.

ION, yay, I have a job lead! Which is good, because I'm feeling vaguely cranky today. Even tho' I am not wearing the CrankyBloomers.
