There is a slightly amusing thing to note about bad juju Thursday: I was considering going to the io9 meet-up on Thursday in hopes of running into the cute girl from the xkcd party who totally flaked out on me, but I decided I didn't need the potential awkwardness in my life right now, despite the small possibility that things could go well. Turns out she was, in fact, there. And she's still cute. And not calling me.
Spike's Bitches 45: That sure as hell wasn't in the brochure.
[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risqué (and frisqué), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.
a heart-warming story of a mother that badgered her son so much that they were never able to share a true relationship. UNTIL one day when she witnesses a GOOD relationship between a friend and her friend's son. And only then does she learn how to treat her son with respect and allow him to find his own happiness, so that he will want to share that happiness with her.
All I can think of is Princess Leia saying to Grand Moff Tarkin, "The more you tighten your grip, Tarkin, the more star systems will slip through your fingers." But I don't think P-C's mom would really get that.
I'm watching Carousel on TV. I swear, this movie gets more disturbing every time I see it. Or maybe I've just got enough time between viewings that I forget some of the more disturbing parts.
I sure hope Bev went out and explored today because it was GORGEOUS. An example of what it looked like today...
Wrong thread. Oops.
While I'm here: YAY Barb!
Well, yeah Barb--that's what it looked like a couple of days earlier this week when we played hooky and went driving around. Gorgeous--we can't stop grinning at each other.
I did a bit more in the closet and had a pedicure and upped my speed and time on the treadmill, thus avoiding closet slog *and* the guilt incurred by once again blowing off the closet slog, and feel virtuous about exercising. Plus, pedicure! No bad there.
Did you and the fam get out and about at all?
We picked up the keys to the house and spent a couple of hours over there-- it was the kids first time and they're beyond jazzed at their new spaces. Then, since they were still dragging a little after a very long day yesterday, we took them back to the hotel while we went to run some errands in the early afternoon. Afterwards, we picked them up and went poking around a bit before having dinner and making it another somewhat early evening.
I think tomorrow we're going to be tourists and take them down to Seattle Center and Pike's Place.
Oh, and we spent some time at our new local bookstore- Third Place. Abby's in manga/graphic novel heaven. She picked up a couple more instruction books and has been happily sketching all day.
I'm watching Cheaper by the Dozen. It's horrible. It was just almost redeemed by a scene of Hilary Duff trying to stop Jared Padalecki from bullying Tom Welling, though.
I think I may have enjoyed that movie a little. I've seen worse, for sure.
stop Jared Padalecki from bullying Tom Welling
This will never stop being funny to me.
