I hope cool is still cool.
'Heart Of Gold'
Spike's Bitches 45: That sure as hell wasn't in the brochure.
[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risqué (and frisqué), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.
I should add that I have never heard them say raw, beast, or garb, and I suspect they'd make fun of anyone who did. Maybe it's an LA thing?
I think cool has moved out of slang and is just a part of casual speech now.
Beer bread with TJ pumpkin butter . Two thumbs up. Or eight if you want to count very one at breakfast today. ditto lemon bread.
Also, Happy Birthday to ChiKat and belated happies to Jessica and Hil!
Coffee:
OMG people, I need to be productive today and am SO uninspired. I think maybe I should start a pot of coffee.
I should add that I have never heard them say raw, beast, or garb
I haven't heard these either. Tight, yes. And other things I can't think of at the moment.
Grammar fans should enjoy the training experience I had Friday. I had a training session with one of my doctors for writing notes. I had already noticed that his notes were much more coherent than many of his colleagues when he picked out a single 'were' and declared that he had to change it to 'are' to match the tense of the rest of the note. I commented that his notes were grammatically superior to many I had seen and he took pride in telling me of starting out in an English major before medical school. I then mentioned that he was clearly a fan of the serial comma when he got excited and said it was essential for clarity. A most unusual conversation with a physician for me. They are usually casual to the extreme with the grammar.
Laura, we saw erinaceous today (and her husband) and I told her that you used Wordnik as your first dictionary stop. She was very pleased.
Wordnik is fun! I am doing a lot of writing for work and it helps my insecurity with word usage when I see the examples. Spell check takes care of the simple dictionary stuff. Wordnik reassures me that people really use that word that way.
Captain John Sheridan: "Well, as my great-grandfather used to say, 'cool.'"
Happy B-day, ChiKat! I only just realized I hadn't subbed to the new Bitches so I'm way behind.
Has anyone ever bought stuff from myshape.com? I kind of love the idea of it. It's a clothes shopping aggregator, from what I can tell, but you set up a fairly exhaustive profile with preferences and measurements, so what they show you in a search is profiled to what will fit and, hopefully, flatter. From what I've seen so far they seem to be hitting things well. It leans a little toward the pricy side but there's definitely a lot that's reasonable. They've got a big sale going on this weekend so I thought I'd mention.
