Every planet has its own weird customs. About a year before we met, I spent six weeks on a moon where the principal form of recreation was juggling geese. My hand to God. Baby geese. Goslings. They were juggled.

Spike's Bitches 45: That sure as hell wasn't in the brochure.

[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risqué (and frisqué), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.

I must obey the inscrutable exhortations of my soul—Calvin and Hobbs

ChiKat: The kids at my school last year used to wear flip flops all year long. If it was cold, they'd wear SOCKS with their flip flops. Which is all kinds of wrong.

Toddson: Booze can't hurt.

In fact, booze may be the only thing that helps, in that circumstance.

We won’t stop until everyone is gay.

You have to expect a certain amount of meteorological dissonance when celebrating a Middle Eastern religion that co-opted European solstice observances in order to be more appealing to the locals.

Until those European practices meet Middle Eastern people coming the other way (and complaining about Victorian poetical inaccuracies that never made any sense).

I adore you both. That is all.

Training went well - I was observing/acting as backup for an intern. I love doing trainings and presentations but damn, they are tiring. ::staples hand to forehead:: Thankfully, I can go home now.

Oh and I meant to say, I'm so sorry, Nora. I hope you find something better, and soon. I don't suppose your boss gets a 360 review?

Greece's financial crisis threatens to take down all of Western civilization - a civilization they themselves founded. A rather tragic irony - which is something they also invented. - Jon Stewart

I keep seeing people out on the street all bundled up ... except they're wearing flip-flops. WTF?

Pedicures?

Friends don't let friends read "Atlas Shrugged"

No. Definitely not.

Love is stronger than death and harder than sorrow. Those who practice it are fierce like the light of stars traveling eons to pierce the night.

Nora, best of luck and ~ma for that coming job interview.

Erm, with all the talk of wisdom teeth extraction here, apparently it's contagious. My dentist decided it is time for me to say goodbye to mine. Simple extractions. So, as I was somewhat in denial during previous conversations, knowing that I'm about 20 years past the intent of the dentist who saw them cut gum saying, "Well, they're ok for now but eventually they will have to come out," is it completely untenable for me to think I can be back to work the next day? I've made my appointment for next Wednesday, which I have off. I do have to work Thursday and Friday, but most of the residents will be with their families for the weekend, so I anticipate a very easy couple of days.

ION, I hate being a mandated reporter.

The next day windsparow? You probably want Thursday off, though surely at this point that'll be hard to get. Maybe just do your job stoned on mess, wheee!

Why did Darth Vader cross the road? To get to the Dark Side!

Nora, sorry about the workplace stress. I agree a nice social drink is in order.

WindSparrow, I am notoriously wimpy when it comes to physical discomfort (witness today) but I would give myself a few days to recover from the wisdom teeth if I were you.

I'll talk to the supervisor I work for on Thurs-Fri - we should be able to work something out in the near future, even if I end up rescheduling my appointment. It's not an emergency, they just need to be done soon-ish - and I was surprised when the scheduling clerk offered me next Wednesay.
