So, I woke up today to find that my aunt died last night. She was my mother's younger sister and had been in the hospital the last few weeks in critical care.
I'm sorry, Daisy. I wish your family was a little less inclined towards the mortality rate.
I do not like the nog, which works out this year since I can't have alcohol.
My preferred nog is virgin from the cartons (I prefer it in glass bottles over cartons if I can get them). I never drank it with alcohol until about 10 years ago.
I like fresh-made nog, and I like the store-bought stuff to put in coffee.
WHY IS THE RUM GONE?
Because we have absinthe. Or Three Olives Cherry vodka and Godiva chocolate liqueur.
I bought both rum and nog the other day.
good thing or this conversation would have killed me
Can you put bourbon in nog?
Can you put bourbon in nog?
I'd think so. Bourbon=liquid love!
Random officemate comment today: he was very disappointed and somewhat puzzled that there's not a traditional Chanukah drink -- since Christmas has eggnog, there must be something for Chanukah.
The blood of annoying officemates?
Blood of Christian babies, duh.
They had no way of knowing what food in the fridge was ours,
They knew it wasn't theirs, presumably.
It's a shame there isn't a holiday based on the miracle of one bottle of single malt lasting through eight days of partying.
Well, it would be a miracle, for sure.
Can you put bourbon in nog?
Most def. In Wisconsin brandy is more typical.
ugh, nog makes me wanna vomit. two of my least favorite things (egg and cream) ruining one of my more favorite things (rum.) *sigh*
eta: i even tried the silk variety, thinking that without the nauseau-inducing ingredients i might enjoy it. Nope. i clearly do not appreciate christmas.

The carton stuff is best by itself. I consider that an entirely different substance than homemade real eggnog, which absolutely requires rum or some other spirit.
