It's like, in the middle of all this, I'm paranoid that you'll think I don't like poetry.

Sometimes I think I might just move up to Vermont, open a bookstore or a vegan restaurant. Adam Schlesinger, z''l

Skipping a zillion posts. I'm in Pennsylvania now, and I have internet! I also have all my furniture and stuff here, and I've got all the paperwork done for my car, which I'm going to be getting this afternoon.

I had to get a PA drivers license in order to get the car. I think that my favorite thing about the PA drivers manual is that, on the page where it tells you about the signs that tell you to watch out for pedestrians and bicycles, it also tells you about the signs telling you to watch out for horse-drawn carriages.

Steph, I heartily concur that a cockpunch is all your cow-irkers deserve. I'm glad the service and funeral were done to your family's taste and that it provided what comfort it could for you and Tim.

Damn, Hil! Once things got happening, they sure moved fast. I think I missed it, what kind of car did you decide to get?

I look more rad than Lutheranism

Right now, he's dealing much better than I am. Which is not to say that he's dancing around in a field of daisies surrounded by puppies. (As far as I know; I don't actually know what he does when he goes to work.) But he said yesterday that he has a good sense of closure, and he's glad she's not struggling to breathe any more, etc.

And all I can think is, I'll never go over to their house again and get to spend time with her, and I can't stand that. I told Tim that last night, and he said, "Well, I had her for 44 years. You were just getting to know her and wanted to know her better. Of course you feel that way."

God, he's a good man.

brillig

When the medical issues for Hubby began, I didn't make much noise about it at work. So I was quite surprised when someone I rarely talked to, one of the social butterflies of the office, came up to me to inquire about how he was. Instead of being pleased at the concern, I'm afraid I snapped, "How did you find out about it?", because I hated the idea of being chatted/gossiped about. That rather cemented my reputation of being an anti-social bitch, which I didn't really mind, to tell the truth.

I've learned to accept incidental inquiries about his health as a sign of normal social interaction, not an indicator that people who I haven't invited that far into my life have taken an unseemly interest in my life, but I still twitch about it.

That said, if other people at Teppy's office are getting the concern and comfort and not her, cockpunch 'em all.
