Overwhelming? How much more than whelming would that be exactly?

Spike's Bitches 45: That sure as hell wasn't in the brochure.

[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risqué (and frisqué), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.

brillig

When the medical issues for Hubby began, I didn't make much noise about it at work. So I was quite surprised when someone I rarely talked to, one of the social butterflies of the office, came up to me to inquire about how he was. Instead of being pleased at the concern, I'm afraid I snapped, "How did you find out about it?", because I hated the idea of being chatted/gossiped about. That rather cemented my reputation of being an anti-social bitch, which I didn't really mind, to tell the truth.

I've learned to accept incidental inquiries about his health as a sign of normal social interaction, not an indicator that people who I haven't invited that far into my life have taken an unseemly interest in my life, but I still twitch about it.

That said, if other people at Teppy's office are getting the concern and comfort and not her, cockpunch 'em all.

Ann, that's a ferret.

Steph, it sounds like the funeral was beautiful and perfectly appropriate for the family. And don't count out the possibility that Tim's mother sent the fawn.

I know my own heart and understand my fellow man. But I am made unlike anyone I have ever met. I dare to say I am like no one in the whole world. - Anne Lister

Steph, I love the fawn. Continued good thoughts headed your (and the Boy's) way.

Former prof I met with loves my current work but isn't sure he has time to devote to a rec (I need 3, have 2 definitive), and tried to discourage me from applying because he found another school at the u too rigid for him 20 years ago.

I had a former boss do this and I just politely pressed her until she couldn't say no (mainly because I had no one else). I wrote the rec for her and sent it to her to tweak and send in, making her part pretty painless. Good luck to you!

Now let us crush something soft and watch it fountain blood. That is a girlish thing to want to do, yes?

God, he's a good man.

He so, so very much is. I'm so happy for you that he's your family.

(HA! SEE WHAT I DID THERE, TEP'S POOPYHEADED COWORKERS?)

Greece's financial crisis threatens to take down all of Western civilization - a civilization they themselves founded. A rather tragic irony - which is something they also invented. - Jon Stewart

Well, Aunt and Uncle have been gone an hour and a half and I just had my first official scare with R!

It wasn't too bad, really. She sits at her window most of the day reading and noticed that the lamp out in the driveway was on so she went to turn it off - only she doesn't know where the switch is so she was heading outside.

I heard the door and everything is fine. It's just got me spooked a little because the only reason the lamp was on is that Dallas and I were walking late last night and we never turned it off. (They don't usually use the lamp much). I don't want to disrupt her routine AT ALL, nevermind in a way that makes her go outside alone.

I was going to run an errand this afternoon. I may put it off until tomorrow and let her settle in a bit to them being gone.

Duh. I'll just take her with me on the errand.

Problem? Solved.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

Yay! It is.

Cheer up, Hamlet!

Do you need the song? I found a rip of it recently.
