Zoe: So you two were kissin'? Book: Well. Isn't that... special?

'Our Mrs. Reynolds'

Spike's Bitches 45: That sure as hell wasn't in the brochure.

[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risqué (and frisqué), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.

"This bar smells like kerosene and stripper tears."

We'll still go, just 5 months after we planned. I'm trying to look at it as, "More time to plan! More time to save money!" rather than postponement.

On the plus side, it means we'll make this [link]

Love is stronger than death and harder than sorrow. Those who practice it are fierce like the light of stars traveling eons to pierce the night.

Did I miss a post about your hot water going out? Glad to hear it's back on!

I don't think we actually posted about it. But last Wednesday, when I was trying to wash some dishes, the water just was not as hot as it should have been, so Daniel went down to the basement to see if it was the fuse or what, on the water heater. It wasn't a fuse or circuit breaker. And it wasn't ... anything Daniel could repair on his own. We ended up buying a new one. I've got to go to work so maybe he will fill in details.

not your mom's socks.

Mildly freaking out over here due to my insane decision to try to go back to school for a phd. Also I just walked for 20 minutes in 95deg heat to catch a train to meet an old professor for coffee and I am dripping. Obvious brain fail today.

"We're all stories, in the end. Just make it a good one, eh?"

That does look really good, Daisy Jane. Ah well, as long as you get to go at some point.

Sox! Another new PhD candidate! We can share insane-levels-of-stress-related stories. (I'm freaking out, too.) Edit: What's your field?

not your mom's socks.

I have to get accepted first. To do that I have to live through the math portion of the GRE. Which I took 15 years ago and it's timed out. Can't say my grasp of algebra is still with me at all. The section description questions on the prep book had me going WTF?! Wtfff? Odg.

I so much prefer the UK's non-test-happy education system. I have such poor maths skills - I could never have got through either SATs or the GRE. Wishing you lots of acceptances! You applying to many schools?

not your mom's socks.

Nope. Logistics has me in a sink or swim situation. Which I hate.

Eta: granted, if I don't get in, I can do lots of other stuff. On most days I think I'd like to get in though.

Always Anti-fascist!

Things I Never Thought I'd Do #1037 -write a letter to Salon defending Vince Chase's new girlfriend having pubic hair.(Apparently, she's quite the porn thespian. But she's really good on that show...comes off smart and hot and they really have great chemistry. I'm a little astounded, quite frankly.) Not by pubic hair...I think that is quite normal...if the dudebros can't handle hers, mine must frighten small children or something, at the risk of being TMI. When you're a Bitch, you're a Bitch for life.

What else besides ramen can you scoop? YOU CAN SCOOP THIS WORLD FROM DARKNESS!

Well, she did do a movie with Soderbergh. But I agree, she's good on the show. Haven't seen the latest episode.

I'm confused--you can't get a new passport and a visa between now and November? (I mean, sure, I was blessed when I was getting visas for my trip last time because I was in DC, and could physically take my passport to the Egyptian Embassy, but I fedexed it to the Vietnamese one and back!)
