I've been a lot better since the trip. I've had a LOT of stuff to deal with, since the moment I got back, but the trip was so refreshing that I can't be bothered to get upset over them. I've had obstacles, not problems.

However, the universe is seriously testing my abilitiy to maintain this attitude. So far, I'm still winning, though.

I just got the schedule for the courses I'm teaching first semester. Horrible schedule, but I really can't be picky. (Four days a week, I've got two classes early in the morning, and then two late in the afternoon.) My contract says I teach 24 credits per year, and it looks like they've got me teaching 16 first semester, so I'm not sure if that means that I'll just have 8 second semester, or what.

I would ask them about it. You may have the same schedule next semester and then you're stuck with it because you've already taught the 16 credits.

OTOH, it may be that they alternate heavier loads one semester so that you have time to focus on research in the other semester. But, I think that you said that this wasn't a research position? Or am I confused?

Hang in there, Sean. One of the most frustrating things for me is that epiphanies don't magically bring about change (which is an epiphany, but I keep having to relearn it... recursion!) I think what I'm trying to say is bumps! They happen! The path out of depression is anything but linear.

It's not a research position, it's just teaching. I'm still going to work on research, but that's not an official part of the position. I'll ask about it.
