So, in keeping with Em's TV education, we were watching the Doctor Who episode "The Shakespeare Code" set, natch, in 1599...Shakespearian times.
Em's not into it. Actively bored. Pauses the show and wanders off. So I ask her: "Punk, are you bored with this episode?"
"Yeah."
"'Cause it's got witches?"
"Eh."
"'Cause it's set way back in time and it's all old and stuff?"
"Yeah. Like the 1970s."
A friend's fiancee's mother passed away today. It wasn't unexpected, she had cancer, but they were hoping she would make it to the wedding in September. I only met her once at the wedding shower, but she seemed to be a wonderful woman. Fuck cancer!
I love teens! In the classroom. Nsm at home.
Amen, sistah!!
Oh, sj, I am so sorry.
Hey, all! Just back from a week with the fam in TN. Brought 3 of them back with me. My sis and her 2 kids (ages 10 and 11) came with me. Both of the kids have ADHD. I am already exhausted. They just ran to Target to fiddle around and give their aunt an hour of quiet time. Bless them.
"Yeah. Like the 1970s."
Heh. Did you correct Em on her estimate of historical events?
Fuck cancer. Cause that is always in order.
OMG, they're actually calling my references! I filled the last spot with a guy here at work, who I just remembered offered a while back.
DUDE. I've been working here since October. I'm referred. I should totally have put Buffistas in the other two spots. I don't even know if the other numbers work anymore. I haven't spoken to those guys in forever.
Der.
Nerve wracking.
Peace and strength to your friend and fiance, sj.
Thanks for all the support. I do like teens a lot. I enjoy watching them discover themselves. They are funny and enthusiastic, and enlivening to be around. For me parenting became easier as communication became easier. It is just horribly frustrating to watch helplessly as they make bad choices. I know we all have to make our own mistakes to learn and grow, but the watching part sucks.
I may challenge him to a card game later. He will beat me soundly because he actually remembers cards, but it will open an opportunity to communicate.
It really does help to be able to vent here. Hugs y'all.
Wow, they are calling references 9 months after you were hired! That is really odd.
