Happy Birthday, erin_obscure!
I found an apartment to rent for this school year. It's absolutely adorable. It's in a house that was built in 1890. The house was built for a doctor and his family, and he had an office at the side of the house, with a separate entrance. The current owners converted that office into an apartment, and they kept all the architectural details they could (stained glass, french doors, all sorts of stuff like that) while also putting in a totally modern kitchen and bathroom and getting it wired for internet and cable and things. Oh, and a basement with a washer and drier. And in the kitchen, not as much counter space as I'd like, but plenty of room for a table where I can sit down to do cooking prep stuff, plus a dishwasher.
