Just a taste - it involves patriarchy, imperialism, attitudes towards sex and sensual movement in a variety of countries and cultures, feminism, homophobia and gender roles, cultural appropriation, "othering," a long history of dance and sex work overlapping, performers blurring the boundaries consciously and un-... yeah.
I have, in my youth at times, seriously thought, "If I had a better body, I would try to be a stripper right now."
