'War Stories'

Spike's Bitches 45: That sure as hell wasn't in the brochure.

[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risqué (and frisqué), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.

"This bar smells like kerosene and stripper tears."

Aw, thank you! But like I said, not even hard!

I think we may have to do this with bi-weekly trips to the Farmer's Market near downtown.

Our wings are not tired.

Speaking of going green, I have now made my NY resolution for six months straight. The resolution was to only have to put out my trash can for garbage day one time every two months. I aggressively recycle, reuse and compost, so I have been making this goal pretty easily. The only reason I don't try for three months is the dog poop.

"There are few hours in life more agreeable than the hour dedicated to the ceremony known as afternoon tea."

We are doing a CSA this year, and I love it!

Now let us crush something soft and watch it fountain blood. That is a girlish thing to want to do, yes?

java, that's a fabulous resolution. Congrats on keeping it!

DJ, not hard, but worthy and it'll make a difference to you -- and if you support it regularly, it'll only get easier to get fresh local food in places other than fancy suburbs. It doesn't have to be hard to be good, amiright? (I know I'd have a lot harder time participating in my CSA if there weren't a dropoff point on campus, and it's amazingly privilegy to even have that; but at the same time, having it has completely turned around both our way of eating and our relationship to the local food production economy.)

I must obey the inscrutable exhortations of my soul—Calvin and Hobbs

Hey, smonster. Want some veggies? Amyth's not splitting our share this week, as she doesn't think she can eat any of it before she leaves. I have cabbage, green onions, and, even with the addition of sauteeing, some of the summer squash that I'd love to share.

Our wings are not tired.

Thanks, amych. I have gotten to the point where I actually wince when having to throw something away. I give a little spiel before all of my parties (megan can attest) that basically says: compost goes there, plastic utensils go in the sink, etc. People are pretty good about complying. And some of my friends actually cheer during the spiel; they're so cute.

"We're all stories, in the end. Just make it a good one, eh?"

Happy anniversary, Shari!

That said, the stand on the right, walk on the left thing is STRICTLY followed. I’ve never seen anyone not do it. Don’t know what would happen if it did.

Pain, death, apocalypse. Really really.

P-C, which book is your Death quote (I'm assuming!) from? I'm getting behind on my Pratchett reading!

You guys are reminding me I need to Bookcrossing some stuff.

I have two books labelled up and ready to go Bookcrossing. I still have a hard time giving books away, despite the fun.

Aaand bedtime.

What else besides ramen can you scoop? YOU CAN SCOOP THIS WORLD FROM DARKNESS!

P-C, which book is your Death quote (I'm assuming!) from? I'm getting behind on my Pratchett reading!

Ha, it is not from Discworld, actually. It's from this xkcd.

But! I have been wanting to change it, and I am reading Discworld right now, so perhaps I will find a good Death quote (or anyone quote) to use.

"We're all stories, in the end. Just make it a good one, eh?"

Heh. It would work for Death rather well. (My favourite Death quote: "I DON'T KNOW ABOUT YOU, BUT I COULD MURDER A CURRY.")

omnis, pursue. That's an order from a shy woman who can use M-16. - Shir

I guess there's nothing to be done, if the cops don't give a shit, and I can't build a motion-activated directional electromagnetic pulse generator.
Write a letter to city council/mayors office. Tell them that a city ordinance is being ignored, and the police are not enforcing it. IF that doesn't work, consider: [link]
  • *NOTE** If you go that route, be sure to build a Faraday cage around your house, to protect it.

Through a link on their page I found out that there is totally an all local/eat green market at my freaking train stop every Thursday!
Mockingbird Station! OMG! That was one stop from my place in Dallas. Dang it. :: sigh ::

ION- I can't seem to find motivation. Might have to do with lack of sleep last night. I blame the brownies. Might not be a good idea to eat that much chocolate/sugars at 10:30 at night.
