I talked to a friend who lives in Jerusalem longer than me. Turned out it's somewhat well known, and yes, it's deliberate.
I'm so shaken and furious. I mean, I know better than going into the ultra-orthodox and even orthodox zones, and I don't do it (when I have to go to orthodox zones (I keep out from ultra-orthodox zones), I dress accordingly). But Jaffa street? One of the main streets that everybody uses? In the afternoon? It's neutral territory, assholes.
