But yeah, you should be able to have it shipped to the store for no cost. I've run into that frustration before.
If I go to the store and pay for it, I can have it sent to the store and not pay shipping. I thanked the guy and declined, and thought "fuck it, my time is worth the $5". If I could have ordered it over the phone and gone to pick it up, I would have considered it, but not to have to go to the store twice.

On Friday, when I made the service call on the heat pump, we agreed on the phone the problem was probably the blower. I called yesterday morning to tell them the cause was definitely the blower, since it was now a stinking lump of melted metal. The person on the phone said, "Well, you've got the service call." The guy who just arrived had no idea about the blower and doesn't have the part. The temperatures are going back into the 80s, and what little tolerance I used to have for heat has been removed by the medication I'm on.
