Yup, you passed me today omnis, I`m south of Holbrook. Meteor crater is great, isn`t it? I ignored it for years, then a friend visiting wanted to see it and I`m so glad I went.
I don`t know quite how to say this, but the skinwalker thing is real, although significantly more serious than the way you`re understanding it just now. Although, they were unlikely to be a threat to you just passing through. But the area he told you not to stop in is my stomping ground. Heh. Glad you`re having a good trip.
Spike's Bitches 45: That sure as hell wasn't in the brochure.
[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risqué (and frisqué), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.
Yikes! OK. Now I'm curious. But not so much that I want to encounter.
Sad I missed a f2f opportunity. Dang it. Sorry about that.
Liese, did Hillerman's books get it right? 'cause that's where I got all of my info about stuff like that!
Yeah, omnis, no prob. It`s hard on trips like this to figure out schedule and stuff. If you`d been through yesterday I`d have been directly on your path at one of my locations. Today ended up hectic for me.
Hillerman has clearly spent a lot of time out here and is close, but no cigar. Interestingly at least one of his books dealing with skinwalkers takes place in what was literally my backyard in New Mexico. It`s the location of part of the Navajo creation story (Changing Woman). That specific mesa was the property next to my house.
I remember that, Liese!
I wonder if part of his only being close and no cigar was intentional. You know, being respectful enough not to share everything?
Ow. I got almost no sleep, and I'm in a ton of pain. Can't take anything for it, because anything that will do anything will also make me kind of loopy, and I've got a phone interview later. And what I really want to do is stay home and do the phone interview from my couch in my pajamas, but they're doing some sort of repairs on my apartment building and the water will be turned off for most of the day, so I can't really just stay around here.
Omnis, good to hear your progress report.
Hil, I hope your day is a good one in spite of the pain.
Yeah, lots of Korean and Mongolian places specialize in letting peeps cook their own meat.
I've never been to a Korean BBQ place where the patrons are left completely alone to cook the meat, though - the waiters always hover around you to make sure you're doing it right.
{{{Hil}}} I hope the pain eases today.
I was up early (for me) this morning doing laundry and clean up, but not the gronk is setting in less than 3 hours later.
mearaing:
I want Barb in charge of any evacuation situations I might find myself in.
THAT. And since I vaguely remember asking you to adopt me before, I hereby now repeat it.
Hil, {{}} and tons of luck with having an awesome day.
omnis, I hope you copy and save all of these reports somewhere.
Aims, I remember watching Tommy when I was 8-9, unsupervised. I turned out OK, I think.
InmemeN:
I found a new dealer today (for sci-fi TV shows, comics, etc.). As in, lending me stuff. I hope he doesn't think it's a "ask me out to date" clue, because I'm not interested (in him), but I'd really, really like to resume watching BSG.
Also, I discovered free Tourchwood on my VOD last night. It was The Best Thing Ever - someone upstairs loves me. OTOH, my subconscious keeps hating me - today I woke up from a dream on which I was traveling abroad, and spontaneously changed a flight in the airport, and had another dream the night before that Louie was still alive despite everything. Waking up to reality, in both cases, was painful.
In class today, after defending the "outrageous" notion that the Inca had indeed a civilization and an empire despite they didn't have writing (but [link] Quipus), and saying that people have all sorts of ways in delivering myths and concepts - and not necessarily in writing - I was faced with a guy who said that I was "making this stuff [this theory] up" after a few minutes of debate. I was so stunned by this statement, I didn't even continue the debate. Not agreeing with me is one thing, and it's acceptable. Saying I'm a lair (me and all of the other people who said the Inca were an empire, including each and every one of the reports we read), is something else. I'm almost sorry I froze there and didn't continue to answer him, but it's still an almost- not sure I'm willing to debate with an idiot.
