Spike's Bitches 45: That sure as hell wasn't in the brochure.
[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risqué (and frisqué), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.
Hello - popping in on a quick break from productivity. Not that there was any doubt but Nanita? Is the bomb. diggity. And I'm quite enjoying the productivity emails/calls with vw bug, Andi, and meara.
When I first got Frankie, I offered him a bully stick (whitefont - it's really a
bull penis
) and he wouldn't take it. Today I offered it again and holy crap he is obsessed. He's been gnawing that thing nonstop for an hour. We did have to have a chat about chew toys not being allowed on the couch, and he got all sad b/c he thought I was saying no bully stick, but I think he's got it now.
Oh, I did the paperwork and paid the fee and now he's officially mine! Woo hoo!
Was just about to call you smonster! My timer went off, and i was all "Oh. Yeah, been 20 minutes on line. Suppose I ought to get offline. Sigh."
...but there's MORE INTERNET TO READ!!! I don't WANNA. I'm TIRED. I wanna sit on the COUCH, not get stuff DONE!
...even though I know I'll be happier if stuff is done. So ridiculous!
Frankie just burped. High-larious.
Calling you now, meara. I'm in the same don't wanna anymore mood, and Frankie wants a walk.
Oh, I did the paperwork and paid the fee and now he's officially mine! Woo hoo!
Yay!
I have stopped with the productivity, I think. Though, I did track down the beeping before collapsing with ice cream. I think it's tv/wind-down time.
Are you thinking of "Highway 61 Revisited"? Whole different road, though just as famous in its way since it's the route down into the delta south of the legendary bluesmen.
Yeah, I used to confuse the two, and I'm an American who can generally tell the difference between 61 and 66.
But I've since driven on both, and now I can tell them apart.
Ooh. At the first Buffista F2F, we first met on Friday morning in a cafe that's at what used to be the start of Route 66.
To make things more confusing Bob Dylan has done a cover of the original Route 66 song.
update - reunion was actually kind of fun. I know. I'm shocked too.
Ginger that stinks about the tree.
I keep discovering places I put candles when we unpacked. Why didn't I put candles in one place? Obviously so I could buy more when I thought we were running out. Agreed with Cass. Candles is pretty.
Sox, glad you had a good time.

Yeah, I don't know how much more I have in me. Want another day off, waaaaaahhh. And in addition to my regular hours, I'll be working Thursday and Friday nights and Saturday all day, so I won't be accomplishing much next weekend. Phooey. Sunday I'm going to my folks for Mother's Day/Mom's birthday, so nothing then, either. They are insisting I bring Frankie, btw.
Speaking of the pup, we found a baby bird in the road, alive, on our walk. Didn't see a nest anywhere near so I just moved it off the road. Maybe at least it'll be a meal for an owl, instead of just roadkill.
I think I might have to light a candle. And eat some chocolate. I blame you all. And by blame, I mean love.
I'll have to admit at this stage that I have no idea whatsoever what Route 66 is
As mentioned, it was the first major highway across America. It's also been decommissioned, so no longer official. The original roadways have been reused in sections for interstate roads (4-8 lane divided highways), or access roads, or part of main streets of towns, or just left to nature to reclaim. So following the path isn't easy.
With that, today's progress was poor. I went from Clinton, OK to Erick, OK. Only about 60 miles as the crow flies. I probably did a bit more with the back tracking and stuff. I did visit TWO Route 66 Museums. That's what ate up the bulk of the time. One in Clinton, which was rather good, the other was in Elk City, and it was kinda blah. The first was well designed, with a logical flow, timeline, good historic props, arranged well, with informational blurbs everywhere. The second was more of a "we recreated a historic town of Elk City", only the recreations were not consistent in time period, from station to station, and within stations. It peeved me. Didn't spend anything at that gift store. Looks like I missed the Timber Creek Bridge. :: pout :: I really needed a navigator today. I spent more time on I-40 than I would have liked. I thought I was turning onto the service road that runs parallel, but alas, it was a long entrance ramp. Tomorrow I'll hit the the Sand Hills Curiosity Shop in the AM, and then cross back into Texas. Hopefully stop for the Punch Bug and Cadillac Ranches, and keep going.
So, I'm actually a little worried about Toto. He has barely drank any water since the I switched him over to bottled. And it is HOT here today. It got up to like 88, and it was even hotter in the apartment what with the hours and hours of boiling water all afternoon. He's panting a lot, and he'll go take one sip then stop. I brought water into the bedroom for tonight. He went over and sniffed it and walked away. And I know he's thirsty. He's panting.
