I have changed my plans a little. Driving is slower on the back roads, which is cool. So not driving on to Amarillo area tonight. I am in Clinton, OK. And tomorrow I'm going to the Route 66 Museum! BooYa! Too bad they don't open until 1pm. It was a nice drive today. Chatted with my Aunt on the leg from Dallas to OKC. Then my brother called me just as I was turning onto Rt 66. Then talked to a former co-worker (who has crush on another co-worker). Got out in a couple places. Saw a big blade from a wind turbine on display outside of the city hall, so got out and took a couple snaps. Then a couple towns later, saw an amphitheater built with the WPA. Very cool Snapped a bunch of pics there. Now, at a Super8 hotel. I tried to find the Rio Siesta Motel. Alas, couldn't find. Might be ancient history. The joys of Route 66, right?

Spike's Bitches 45: That sure as hell wasn't in the brochure.
[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risqué (and frisqué), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.
I could be motivated/motivate tomorrow sometime easte coast afternoon if people aren't done!
Me too, definitely. I'm thinking about going to the farmers market in the morning, but even if I don't, I really need to clean and do laundry.
Anne, I'm so sorry. Meso is a complete bitch to deal with.
No, he was a navy recruit in WWII. We do think that the asbestos exposure probably happened during his military service.
That seems likely. I know my grandfather's was caused by his WWII service in the shipyards, so it stands to reason that serving on the ships he was building probably would expose one to asbestos. Sucks.
Grandpa got some kind of a settlement from the government, actually - there may be money available for your step-grandfather's medical bills. I'm afraid I don't know the details, I was pretty young.
Omnis, From your post, I deduct you are taking I-40.
Don't forget to stop and stand on a corner in Winslow, AZ.
Then see the Crater.
I wish we had.
Anybody who wants in tomorrow, email me at sarahbekistan at gmail. Is it okay if we just keep one email string going and people hop on as they are able?
Frankie was growling so I looked up to see two deer standing in the road in front of my house. They turned and ran away. Brave doggie, protecting us from the nasty deers.
Anne, I'm very sorry. May he have longer, and better, than they expect right now.
Omnis, From your post, I deduct you are taking I-40.Yes and no. I'm trying to keep to Historic Route 66 as much as possible. Many parts of it are Interstate 40, and it runs pretty parallel with it. Forgot about the four corners! Crater was on my list. Monday I get a call from the movers to give me an estimate how long it will take for my stuff to arrive. That will determine how many stops I take. I've had to move long distances many times for work, this is the first time I'm taking my time and 'smelling the roses'.
Oh no, stupid body. You won't get ill on me NOW. So what if I've asked more than ever this past few months out of you, and didn't give you the proper rest. Man up!
If you're going through Amarillo consider the Big Texas Steakhouse (??not sure on the name), that's been on King Of the Hill, where if you eat a 72 ounce steak dinner in an hour, it's free! My friends and I didn't even try, but it was entertaining nonetheless. And there's a Big Giant Cross nearby too. But we'd already seen one that morning in Oklahoma, so we didn't stop.
